AVG Business Security Review 2026
AVG Business is still active—version 26.4 shipped in May 2026—and its Windows endpoint/server products are straightforward to price and manage. The hard caveat is evidence: current 2026 business lab results are published for sibling Avast, not under the AVG Business product name.
A practical shortlist option for a small all-Windows office. Require a pilot and current validation; don't buy it as a cross-platform EDR program.

AVG Business is active, but its storefront looks older than the code
The page isn't a discontinued-product review. AVG’s 2026 Business Antivirus release notes show version 26.1 on February 25 and version 26.4 on May 27. The May release contains fixes and minor improvements and is offered for new installations while existing devices enter the automatic rollout.
The release notes say business releases run roughly two weeks behind consumer antivirus for additional testing and are made to the Avast and AVG brands at the same time, including managed and unmanaged versions. They also state that the update needs a reboot to finish, but the console won't force that reboot unless the device policy is configured to do so.
That's more current than the installation-file page suggests: its visible release-note list stops around 21.9 even though the active business-help channel documents 26.4. Procurement should trust the current release/support channel and demand a supported-build statement in the quote, not infer lifecycle from a stale download-page list.
Independent protection evidence: don't relabel Avast as AVG
AVG consumer products appear regularly in independent tests, but this page reviews AVG Business. In the current sources checked, AV-TEST’s 2026 business-Windows table lists Avast Ultimate Business Security, and AV-Comparatives’ complete March–June 2026 business report also tests Avast—not AVG Business.
AVG’s own documentation confirms shared release timing, and the official store says CyberCapture sends unrecognized files to Avast Threat Labs. Those facts make shared technology plausible, but configuration, packaging, policies and tested product identity still matter. We won't copy Avast Ultimate’s 6/6/6, Avast’s 99.0% real-world result or its July Approved Business Product award onto AVG Business as if the labs certified AVG.

This evidence gap doesn't prove weak protection. It lowers confidence compared with a directly tested product. A responsible buyer should run a pilot with AMTSO/EICAR checks, custom applications, ransomware-safe simulations and console-response workflows, then ask AVG/Gen Digital for the newest independent business certification tied to the quoted SKU.
AVG Business products and current pricing
The official US AVG business store still showed the prices below when rechecked July 22, 2026. Unlike Avast’s first-year discount display, AVG presented flat annual per-device figures on the page we checked. Promotions, device count, tax, currency and renewal terms can still change the actual order.

Don't add every SKU automatically. Internet Security already includes Exchange protection in AVG’s component matrix, while File Server and Email Server are targeted purchases. Ask the quote to state which endpoints/servers consume licenses and whether an endpoint license already covers the server workload you intend to protect.

The official services overview is more reliable than old screenshots or 2016 datasheets. It shows where Behavior Shield and firewall don't apply to server SKUs and identifies Patch Management as a managed-only additional service. Use that matrix to build policy, then confirm it against the actual 26.4 console before purchase.
AVG Cloud Management Console: the reason to buy business licensing
The cloud console lets an administrator watch device health and blocked threats, schedule scans, distribute antivirus/program updates, assign services and collect reports from one place. Without central visibility, a business antivirus is little more than a set of independent consumer-like agents.
The console is included in the store comparison for both endpoint editions. AVG also supports unmanaged installers, but that removes consistent policies, status and remote response. A one-person office may tolerate unmanaged installation; a fleet shouldn't rely on employees to notice disabled protection or install program updates.
Management questions for the pilot
- Define roles and MFA. Verify administrator access, least privilege, audit history and account recovery.
- Build separate policies. Split workstations, servers, remote users and high-risk teams rather than applying one global policy.
- Test remote deployment. Include devices off the office LAN and document prerequisites, retry behavior and uninstall.
- Run a safe alert drill. Use EICAR or AMTSO checks and confirm notification, quarantine, report and ticket ownership.
- Test the unusual software. Exercise custom binaries, accounting plugins, VPN clients, backups and large file operations.
- Document update/reboot behavior. Version 26.4 requires a reboot to complete; choose a policy that doesn't surprise users during critical work.

Current AVG Business requirements list Windows 11 x64 and Windows 10 Pro, Education and Enterprise in x64/x86 variants. Server support lists Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, 2016 and 2012 x64 with the latest service pack, excluding Server Core. Exchange and SharePoint versions are separately named.
Read the current AVG Business system requirements before rollout. The active product matrix doesn't list macOS, Linux, Android or iOS endpoints. Consumer AVG apps for those platforms don't automatically become centrally managed business agents.
Deployment, performance and support realities
AVG’s store promises 24/5 English support, not 24/7. Confirm channels, time zone, severity definition and response target in the contract—especially if servers are in scope. An antivirus vendor’s standard support is also not an incident-response retainer.
The official release notes make update behavior concrete: version 26.4 requires a reboot to complete, and the console can force it only when policy says so. Stage program updates to a pilot ring, then a broad ring, with a maintenance window and rollback plan. Verify that remote laptops actually receive the version and definitions.
No current AVG Business lab performance score was found in the reviewed business series. Measure login, file copies, builds, backup, database tasks, email flow and full scans on your hardware. Don't run two real-time antivirus engines unless both vendors explicitly document coexistence.
AVG, Avast and Gen Digital: shared stack, shared diligence
AVG’s 2026 pages identify Gen Digital, and the business feature page says CyberCapture sends unknown files to Avast Threat Labs. The release note says Avast and AVG business versions ship together. This explains technical overlap and makes a direct Avast comparison essential; it doesn't make the products, prices, policies or lab identities interchangeable.
The FTC’s finalized 2024 Avast/Jumpshot order concerned historical consumer browsing-data conduct. It's a group-level supplier/privacy diligence signal, not evidence that today’s AVG Business Console repeats the practice. Review current business data-processing terms, file-submission settings, telemetry, retention, subprocessors, administrator logs and deletion/export procedures.

Final verdict: usable Windows EPP, but demand current proof
AVG Business earns 7.8/10. It's actively maintained, simple to understand and reasonably transparent about Windows scope, management and add-on prices. A small Windows-only organization can get useful central control without navigating an enterprise platform.
The missing piece is direct current evidence. AVG’s shared Avast release cadence isn't the same as an independent AVG Business test. Buyers with compliance, mixed platforms or serious response needs should choose a directly validated EPP/EDR. Everyone else should use the trial to test 26.4 on real workloads and get support, privacy, renewal and lifecycle terms in writing.
