How to Cancel Sophos Home and Request a Refund
First decide what you actually want to stop. Turning off auto-renewal, requesting money back, removing a family computer, uninstalling the agent and deleting the account are five separate actions—and choosing the wrong one can leave billing active or protection disabled too early.

Choose the outcome before clicking anything
“Cancel Sophos” is not one command. The paid subscription lives with Cleverbridge, the license state appears in the Sophos Home account, each protected computer has a dashboard record, and the antivirus is installed locally on Windows or macOS. Account deletion sits above all of that, but Sophos explicitly says it does not cancel billing. Start with the result you need, then change only that layer.
If the goal is simply “do not charge me next year,” disable auto-renewal and keep using the paid term. If a purchase or renewal is inside the current refund window, send a separate refund request and expect the license to be deactivated when it completes. If you are replacing a laptop, remove that device and uninstall only there. Delete the account last, after the money, license and devices are settled.
| Your actual goal | Action | What it does not do | Proof to keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stop the next charge | Turn off auto-renewal | Does not refund the current order | Dashboard says Expires |
| Get a recent payment back | Submit a Cleverbridge refund request | Does not preserve the paid license | Order reference and refund email |
| Free one device slot | Remove the device in Home | Does not uninstall or cancel billing | Device no longer in dashboard |
| Remove protection locally | Use the supported OS uninstaller | Does not cancel renewal | Agent absent after restart |
| Erase the Home login | Delete the account after offboarding | Does not settle billing automatically | Deletion confirmation |

Stop the next paid renewal in the Sophos Home dashboard
Sign in directly at my.sophos.com, click the account email in the upper-right corner and open My Account. Under Subscriptions, read the status and date before making a change. The current Sophos Home renewal guide defines the labels precisely: `Renews` means automatic renewal is on, while `Expires` means it is off.
Select Manage or Manage Subscription and deactivate automatic renewal. The control may hand the browser to Sophos’s payment partner because Cleverbridge owns the order record. Finish the confirmation flow, return to My Account and reload the status. Do not delete the account or uninstall the antivirus as a shortcut; neither action is the verified billing control.
If the dashboard already says `Expires`, record the displayed date instead of switching settings repeatedly. A future expiry date means the next automatic renewal is off and the current paid term remains. Our Home dashboard and license guide explains account ownership, MFA and device access when the wrong login or family member controls the console.
Use the Cleverbridge order email when the dashboard route is unavailable
Every direct Sophos Home purchase is handled through Cleverbridge. Search the purchase inbox and spam folder for the initial message from `[email protected]`; Sophos says renewal mail may also come from `[email protected]`. Open the genuine order message, choose the order-details or subscription-management link, and find Subscription overview, Automatic renewal cancellation, Cancel your subscription or Manage your subscription.
If the message is missing or its secure link has expired, use the official Cleverbridge Purchase Lookup reached from Sophos’s billing article. Enter the email used at purchase, complete the verification and open the redelivered order overview. Sophos says generated links expire after 30 days for security, but generating a fresh message does not change the license or create a new order.
The Cleverbridge cancellation instructions make the consequence explicit: canceling stops future billing renewals and does not refund the existing order. That is why the refund path below is separate. Save the order reference and cancellation evidence before closing the page.
Verify that cancellation changed Renews to Expires
Do not treat the first click, a closed tab or an uninstall as proof. Return to Sophos Home → My Account → Subscriptions and confirm that the label says `Expires`, not `Renews`, with the paid-through date you expect. Capture a screenshot that includes the status and date but excludes passwords, full payment details and unrelated personal data.
Keep the Cleverbridge order reference and any cancellation message with that screenshot. There is no current first-party promise that every confirmation arrives within a fixed number of minutes, so the dashboard state is the stronger product-side check. If the order page says canceled but Home still says Renews after a fresh sign-in, contact Cleverbridge with the order reference and Sophos Home through its official web route; do not toggle the setting back and forth.
| Evidence | Good state | Warning state | Next move |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home subscription label | Expires | Renews | Reopen Manage Subscription |
| Paid-through date | Matches expected term end | Missing or unexpected | Compare invoice and order |
| Cleverbridge order | Future renewal canceled | No clear change | Use Purchase Lookup/support |
| Refund record | Separate request/processing email | Only cancellation proof | Submit the refund form separately |
Protection remains active through the paid term after auto-renewal is off
The Sophos consumer terms say a canceled subscription remains accessible through the end of its current term. That makes auto-renewal cancellation the least disruptive choice when you only want to avoid the next charge. Keep the protection running while you evaluate a replacement, export the proof you need and schedule changes on family computers instead of creating an immediate gap.
When the paid term ends, Premium protection and entitlement stop according to the account state. Do not assume the operating system instantly resolves every local transition on every device; open each computer after expiry and verify its active protection. If you are changing products earlier, plan a clean uninstall/restart/install sequence through our Sophos setup guide and the new vendor’s official instructions.
The distinction also matters for plan shopping. Cancellation is not a mid-term downgrade and it does not convert the existing order. Our Sophos Home pricing, trial and renewal guide owns the current plan and entitlement details; this page owns the exit and evidence path.
Check the 30-day purchase window before requesting a refund
Sophos Home’s billing article updated August 3, 2026 says a refund may be requested within 30 days of purchase. The storefront also displays a 30-day money-back guarantee, and section 3.5 of the Sophos Consumer Terms describes a 30-day period for services carrying that guarantee.
Count from the transaction you want reviewed and submit promptly. For a renewal, use the date and order reference for that renewal rather than the original first-year purchase. Say “request within 30 days,” not “automatic refund”: Cleverbridge’s generic refund help says eligibility depends on the product, purchase date and payment method, while the Home page supplies the product-specific 30-day policy.
Collect the purchase email address, order reference, transaction date, amount/currency and a short honest reason before opening the form. Do not wait for a technical support case to consume the window, and do not create a bank dispute while the merchant is already tracing an identifiable valid order unless your issuer directs you otherwise.
Submit a full-refund request through Cleverbridge
Open the Cleverbridge refund instructions and follow the official refund-request link. The form asks for the email used for the purchase, the Cleverbridge order reference and a reason. If the reference is missing, recover the order through Purchase Lookup first rather than guessing or sending card details to a search-result contact.
After the form accepts the request, Cleverbridge says it sends an email asking you to confirm. Open that message and choose `Start Refund`; a later message should say the refund is being processed. Keep both messages and the order reference. A submitted form without the email confirmation is not the complete flow described by the payment processor.
Use a full refund only when you intend to give up the license tied to that order. If multiple family computers depend on it, notify their users and arrange the next protection state before confirming. The correct order is operational, not merely financial: know which devices lose Premium, preserve the records, then complete the request.
An approved refund deactivates the license instead of preserving the paid term
Cleverbridge explicitly warns that refunding an order deactivates its license and cannot be reversed. This is the sharpest difference from disabling auto-renewal. With renewal off, the current paid term normally continues; with a completed refund, the refunded entitlement is withdrawn rather than left available until its original expiry date.
Before you confirm, open the Home dashboard and list the computers attached to the license. Decide whether you will rely on the operating system’s built-in protection, install another antivirus, or keep Sophos under a different valid entitlement. Do not leave remote family machines in an ambiguous expired state and assume the people using them will notice.
After the refund processing message, recheck the Home subscription state and each device. Save a final screenshot and verify the replacement security state rather than repeatedly entering the old key. If a device becomes stuck between license states, use our Sophos Home troubleshooting guide or the official support form with the order reference and exact message.
Partial refunds and requests outside 30 days need a narrower expectation
Cleverbridge routes partial-refund requests to its Customer Service team rather than the standard full-refund form. It asks the customer to provide supporting detail, such as the relevant order, coupon or screenshot, and says it will check eligibility with the publisher. Do not present a partial refund as a guaranteed prorated credit.
Outside the current Home 30-day period, the Sophos terms say normal subscription payments are non-refundable and there are no ordinary credits for unused or partially used time, unless the applicable purchase page or law says otherwise. Local consumer rights can differ and cannot always be waived, but this guide is not a promise about a jurisdiction-specific outcome. Give the merchant the transaction evidence and ask for a written decision.
If the problem is a duplicate order, wrong currency/tax record, unrecognized transaction or a cancellation that failed before renewal, state that precise problem instead of requesting a generic goodwill refund. Specific evidence gives Cleverbridge a traceable event. A technical complaint about Sophos performance belongs in the support case, while the payment decision belongs with the order owner.
If renewal already posted, turning it off only protects the next cycle
A cancellation made after the renewal transaction does not travel backward and refund that charge. Disable auto-renewal so the following cycle is not scheduled, then submit the posted renewal through the refund path if it is inside the current 30-day window. Use the renewal’s order reference, transaction date and amount rather than the older initial invoice.
Check whether the order email and dashboard belong to the same account. Family members often use one email for the Home console and another at checkout, and a cardholder may not be the person administering the computers. The account email can identify the protected devices; the purchase email identifies the Cleverbridge order. They may need separate corrections.
Do not delete the Home account while the transaction is being traced. It removes a useful control surface without canceling billing and can make the evidence harder to assemble. Keep access until the refund/cancellation record is settled and the machines have a planned protection state.
Identify Cleverbridge, CBI or CBA on the statement before escalating
Cleverbridge says its statement entry can include `Cleverbridge`, `CBI` or `CBA`, because it resells software and processes renewals for multiple publishers. A descriptor alone does not prove which product created the transaction. Search every likely purchase inbox for the amount and date, include spam/junk, and use Purchase Lookup with the email addresses that an authorized card user may have used.
The current Sophos billing page confirms that direct Sophos Home subscriptions use Cleverbridge. Match the order name, reference, amount, currency and license email before treating the charge as valid. A shared family card, old address or renewal mailbox can explain a transaction without making it unauthorized, but recognition does not remove the right to use the applicable cancellation or refund process.
Do not rely on long lists of supposed Sophos statement descriptors copied by cancellation sites. `CBI` or `CBA` is documented by the payment processor; the order lookup supplies the product evidence. If the transaction belongs to another Cleverbridge publisher, follow that publisher’s terms instead of sending it through Sophos Home.
Trace an unrecognized charge without exposing full card data
If Purchase Lookup does not find the order, use Cleverbridge’s unrecognized-charge guidance. It asks for the exact amount and currency, transaction date, last four card digits or PayPal invoice ID, alternative email addresses and—where useful—the name of another authorized card user. Send that information only through the official Cleverbridge form.
Mask unrelated statement entries, full account numbers, security codes and balances in a screenshot. Never give a supposed cancellation agent remote access to “find the charge,” and do not read an MFA code to anyone who contacted you from a search result. If the merchant cannot match the payment and the cardholder reasonably believes it is unauthorized, contact the card issuer through the number on the card or its official app and follow its fraud instructions.
| What you see | First check | Safe evidence | Owner |
|---|---|---|---|
| Known renewal | Order and Home status | Reference, date, amount | Cleverbridge cancellation/refund |
| CBI/CBA, product unclear | Purchase Lookup with likely emails | Descriptor, amount, date | Cleverbridge order trace |
| Possible duplicate | Compare references and amounts | Both invoices | Cleverbridge support |
| No authorized order found | Merchant trace first | Last four digits only | Cleverbridge, then issuer if needed |
| Caller asks for remote access | End contact | Preserve message safely | Official support/fraud route |
The current 30-day Sophos Home trial cannot auto-renew
The current product-specific renewal guide says Sophos Home does not collect payment information for its 30-day free trial, so that trial cannot convert into an automatic charge. The storefront reinforces the point with “No credit card required.” At the end of the trial, the user must separately purchase Premium to continue that entitlement.
Sophos’s general consumer terms allow that some Sophos trials may convert under the terms shown at signup, but that is a broad rule across services. For current Sophos Home, the specific July 2026 support article is the relevant behavior. Do not cancel or delete a Home trial merely because a generic terms paragraph describes a possible paid conversion for other offers.
If a Cleverbridge charge appears while someone remembers only a Home trial, look for a separate paid order or renewal. Check another family member, an earlier purchase and alternate emails. Our pricing guide explains what currently happens when Home trial features expire, while this page handles a real paid transaction.
To change the plan or term, avoid buying a duplicate subscription
Sophos says an existing Home subscription cannot be changed in place to a different price or length. Turn off auto-renewal, use the current term until it expires, then buy the desired subscription. Home also cannot be converted into a business subscription, and Sophos says subscriptions cannot be extended beyond three years.
Buying a second order before the first term ends can create two references and a confusing device/license state. If you already did that, do not activate and cancel at random. Collect both order emails, note which key/account is active, and ask Cleverbridge or Home support to identify the correct ownership before requesting any eligible refund.
A business migration is a separate product decision, not a Home upgrade. The consumer dashboard, Home agent and Cleverbridge order should not be assumed to turn into Sophos Central or an endpoint license. Keep the transition documented and schedule endpoint changes per computer.
Remove a device when you only need to free a license slot
Sign in to Home, select the computer, choose Remove and confirm. The current Sophos device-removal article says this frees a device count and ends management for that computer. It also says the Sophos software continues running until someone uninstalls it locally.
That behavior is useful when a dead or replaced computer is consuming a slot, but it is not a subscription cancellation. The family plan, renewal state and other computers are unchanged. Record the device name and owner before removing it so you do not detach the wrong machine, especially when several devices have generic names.
If the computer is still accessible, uninstall first while it is online, restart and then verify whether Home removed it automatically. Sophos’s Windows article says an online uninstall can clear the dashboard record, but verification is still necessary. Device ownership, Direct Access and History details live in our dashboard guide.
Uninstall Sophos Home locally without confusing removal with billing
On Windows, use Installed apps/Programs to select Sophos Home and run its uninstaller, then restart when required. The official Windows removal guide says the dashboard device record must also be cleared for a clean reinstall and freed slot. Use SophosZap only as the documented last-resort troubleshooting tool, not as the ordinary cancellation method.
On macOS, use the `Remove Sophos Home` application found through Spotlight. The current Mac removal guide warns not to drag the app to Trash because that does not uninstall the product. Restart the Mac, then verify the menu-bar item, system extensions and dashboard record.
Neither platform’s local uninstaller owns the Cleverbridge order. Turn off renewal or request the refund separately and preserve proof. If removal fails, use the supported troubleshooting route rather than deleting Sophos folders or services manually; our Mac review and technical-fault guide explain the current permissions and recovery boundary.
Delete the Sophos Home account only after billing is settled
Account deletion is irreversible and is not a cancellation control. Sophos’s current deletion article explicitly warns that deleting the account does not cancel billing settings. It also says installed Home software can continue running, but the user loses the ability to manage it through that dashboard.
After the subscription/refund state is proven, sign in, click the login name, choose My Account and unlock settings with the Home password. Select Delete My Account at the bottom, enter the verification code sent to the registered email and confirm. Sophos says the code is valid for ten minutes and users must delete their own accounts.
Do not take this step while an order, disputed charge, refund or device handoff is unresolved. Save invoices, references and status screenshots outside the Home account first. A deleted login cannot serve as your proof that renewal was disabled, and it does not remove the local agent from family computers.
Use a safe offboarding order across every protected computer
Start with money and entitlement: request the eligible refund or turn off auto-renewal, then save the order and status evidence. Next list every managed computer and the person using it. Decide the replacement protection, schedule each uninstall and confirm the operating system or new antivirus is active after restart. Remove any leftover dashboard records only when the machine ownership is clear.
Then review the Home account for device History, settings or information you may need for a support case. If your goal includes data/login deletion, use the irreversible account control last. This order avoids three common failures: deleting the evidence before a refund, leaving a remote family computer without planned protection, and assuming a removed device canceled the family subscription.
When moving to another product, avoid running two real-time antivirus engines together for longer than the vendor’s documented transition requires. Complete updates and a clean restart, then verify one primary security provider. Our Windows 11 antivirus guide and Mac antivirus guide are decision resources after the billing and device state is stable.
Recover the right email when the order or dashboard seems missing
The Home account email and Cleverbridge purchase email can differ. On an installed Windows or Mac computer, use the current account-email guide to identify the dashboard owner, then try the likely checkout addresses in Purchase Lookup. Search for both the Sophos order and the exact transaction amount/date.
If you still control the old Home email, update the dashboard email and the purchase/billing email separately. Sophos says changing the Home account address does not automatically change the order data. If the old mailbox is lost, Premium users can open the dashboard through the installed product or use the “I can’t sign in” account-access form; Free accounts without email access may need to be recreated.
Do not create a second paid order just to regain dashboard access. That can add a duplicate subscription without fixing ownership. First establish which account controls the devices and which address owns the payment, then correct or cancel the appropriate record.
A reseller or managed-service purchase follows the merchant on its receipt
Direct Sophos Home commerce uses Cleverbridge, but every Sophos-branded charge is not necessarily a Home order. Sophos still documents, for example, a separately sold Staples managed antivirus service whose sales and customer-service concerns belong with Staples. Business Sophos Central, firewall and managed endpoint products also use different accounts and support paths.
Read the invoice product name, merchant and license portal before using this guide. If the receipt names a reseller, mobile store, employer or managed service, follow that seller’s cancellation and refund terms. Do not enter a business or reseller reference into random Home forms and assume it will locate the order.
Sophos Intercept X for Mobile is another common source of confusion. It is a separate free mobile security app, not a Home Premium subscription billed through a mobile app store. Our mobile review explains that boundary, while the main Sophos Home review covers whether the ten-computer family console remains worth keeping.
Use web support directly because Sophos Home has no phone support
The Sophos Home support article updated August 2, 2026 says there is no phone support for Home. Premium users can use official dashboard/help-center chat and the web form during the documented weekday hours; Free users use the knowledge base, chatbot and account-issue route. Navigate to the support domain directly instead of calling a number displayed in a search result.
Cancellation queries currently surface spam PDFs and user-generated posts that repeat supposed Sophos support numbers. Some use “refund,” “billing” and “cancel” language to pull a worried cardholder into remote access. Do not call, install a support tool, share an MFA code or open online banking for anyone reached that way. Our fake Sophos pop-up and support-scam guide has the exposure-specific recovery steps if that already happened.
For billing, send the order reference and redacted transaction detail to Cleverbridge. For a product malfunction, send the Home version, OS, device and exact error to Sophos. For a potentially unauthorized card payment after the merchant trace, use the issuer’s official fraud route. Keeping those owners separate is faster and safer than asking one “support” contact to control every part.
Sophos Home cancellation and refund FAQ
How do I cancel Sophos Home Premium?
Sign in to the Sophos Home dashboard, open My Account and inspect Subscriptions. Use Manage Subscription to turn off automatic renewal, or recover the Cleverbridge order email through the official Purchase Lookup tool and cancel under Subscription overview. Verify that the dashboard changes from Renews to Expires with the correct paid-through date.
Does canceling Sophos Home give me a refund?
No. Turning off auto-renewal prevents a future renewal but does not refund the current order, and protection normally remains active through the paid term. A refund is a separate Cleverbridge request; Sophos Home currently says to request it within 30 days of purchase.
How long do I have to request a Sophos Home refund?
Sophos Home's billing page and storefront currently state a 30-day money-back period. Submit the request within 30 days of the purchase or renewal you want reviewed, but describe it as a request rather than guaranteed approval because Cleverbridge checks the product, date and payment method.
What happens to Sophos Home after a refund?
Cleverbridge says a completed refund deactivates the associated license and cannot be reversed. Plan replacement protection before confirming the refund, especially when the license protects family computers that you do not physically control.
Will Sophos Home still work after I turn off auto-renewal?
Yes, the Sophos consumer terms say access continues through the end of the paid subscription term. In the Home dashboard, Expires with a future date is the expected proof that renewal is off while the existing term remains active.
Can the Sophos Home free trial charge me automatically?
The current Sophos Home-specific renewal guide says the 30-day trial does not collect payment information and therefore cannot auto-renew. A Cleverbridge charge points to a separate paid purchase or renewal, not the no-card trial by itself.
Does uninstalling Sophos Home cancel the subscription?
No. Uninstalling removes local protection from one computer, while billing is managed through the Home account and Cleverbridge. Turn off auto-renewal or request the refund separately, then verify the subscription status rather than assuming the uninstall changed it.
Does removing a device from the Sophos dashboard cancel billing?
No. Removing a device frees one device slot and ends dashboard control for that computer, but Sophos says the installed software can keep running until it is uninstalled. It does not change the subscription or create a refund.
Does deleting my Sophos Home account stop billing?
No. Sophos explicitly warns that deleting the Home account does not cancel its billing settings. Settle the refund or renewal state first, save the evidence, uninstall and remove devices as needed, and only then use the irreversible account-deletion control.
Is there a Sophos Home cancellation phone number?
Sophos Home's current support article says the consumer product has no phone support. Use the official Sophos Home dashboard, Home Support site or Cleverbridge order-management pages reached directly, and treat phone numbers embedded in search-result PDFs, forum posts or pop-ups as unaffiliated until independently verified.
Finish with proof, protected devices and no open billing loop
Before you close the task, verify the outcome you chose. Auto-renewal off means Home says `Expires` with the correct date. A refund means the request and confirmation are retained and the license state matches the completed decision. Device removal means the right slot is free; uninstall means the local agent is gone after restart; account deletion means billing was settled first and the irreversible confirmation is saved.
Check every family computer that depended on the license. Confirm one active protection provider, current operating-system updates and no stranded Home device records. If a refund is still processing or a charge is being traced, keep the dashboard available and the evidence private until the merchant closes it.
The practical rule is simple: money first, protection second, account deletion last. That order prevents the two expensive mistakes—leaving renewal active because an app was uninstalled, or deleting the account before the evidence and devices were under control.
