TotalAV billing guide · Direct, Apple and Google Play cancellation and refund rules checked August 1, 2026

Cancel TotalAV, Stop Auto-Renewal and Request the Right Refund

Stopping the next charge and getting money back are two different jobs. The correct route also depends on who billed you: TotalAV directly, Apple, Google Play or an account you haven't identified yet. This guide separates those paths, checks every independently billed service and leaves you with proof instead of a vague “I think it is canceled.”

Billing owner firstCancel ≠ refundConfirmation saved

Quick answer: First identify who owns the charge. For a direct TotalAV card or PayPal subscription, sign in to the Online Portal, open My Subscriptions, cancel the exact service and complete the email-code verification. This stops the next renewal but doesn't issue a refund. Direct annual or biannual services currently have a 30-day refund window after purchase or renewal; monthly, quarterly and add-on services have 14 days. Apple and Google Play purchases must be managed through the store. Save the before-and-after portal state, email and refund case.

Cancellation and refund are separate outcomes

Canceling a subscription means disabling automatic renewal for the next term. TotalAV says the current service remains active until the paid period ends and no further charge should be made for that billing agreement. A refund asks the billing owner to return money already paid. For direct TotalAV billing, the current policy requires termination of the relevant plan, and access ends immediately once the refund is processed.

Choose the result before you begin. If you simply don't want another renewal, cancel and retain access through the term. If a charge just occurred and you want it reversed, cancel future renewal and make a separate refund request within the applicable window. If you don't recognize the seller or believe the card itself is compromised, identify the transaction and involve the financial provider rather than treating it as an ordinary renewal.

Uninstalling, signing out or deleting a card isn't cancellation

The subscription lives with the billing owner, not in the copy of the app installed on one device. Uninstalling TotalAV, removing devices, signing out or letting protection expire doesn't instruct TotalAV, Apple or Google Play to stop recurring billing. Deleting a saved card is also unreliable: an existing subscription agreement may use a stored token, PayPal authorization or store payment method.

Make the billing change where the receipt says the subscription is managed. Then handle the software. If TotalAV was the active Windows provider, verify that Microsoft Defender or your intended replacement becomes active before removal; the TotalAV repair guide covers a safe provider handoff. The forthcoming uninstall page will own residual-file and platform-removal details rather than crowding billing instructions here.

Capture the account state before changing anything

Record the billing owner, account email, exact service name, billing interval, next renewal date, last charge, invoice number and payment method. Take a screenshot or export an invoice from the authenticated portal, but redact account identifiers before sharing it publicly. If several services appear, make one row per service; a single TotalAV account can contain separate billing agreements.

This evidence resolves the most common disputes: which plan renewed, whether an add-on was separate, when the request was submitted and what the portal showed before cancellation. Keep the original confirmation email and bank entry. Don't forward a full invoice or card details to an address found in a search result. The TotalAV pricing and renewal guide explains how first-term promotions differ from regular renewal pricing.

Who billed you? Use the receipt, not the device

The same TotalAV app can be downloaded from a store while the subscription was purchased on the vendor website, or vice versa. Open the receipt and bank or PayPal entry. A direct TotalAV purchase belongs in the TotalAV Online Portal. An Apple receipt belongs to the Apple Account shown on that receipt. A Google Play order belongs to the Google Account that made it.

If the charge is unfamiliar, don't start by guessing passwords across sites. Search email for the receipt, check the authenticated billing histories and use TotalAV's official secure transaction lookup when the descriptor points to its group. The owner of the billing agreement controls cancellation and refund. A device setting alone can't cancel a direct website subscription.

Four TotalAV billing routes: direct portal, Apple, Google Play and an unknown charge lookup
Cancellation follows the billing owner. Check every account and separately billed service rather than relying on where the app is installed.

Direct card or PayPal billing: cancel in the TotalAV portal

TotalAV's current cancellation instructions send direct customers to the secure Online Portal. Sign in, open My Subscriptions from the dashboard, select Cancel Subscription on the exact service and complete the flow. The portal sends a verification code to the account email before it changes billing preferences.

Don't stop on a retention offer, lower-price screen or survey unless the page explicitly confirms that renewal is off. Return to My Subscriptions and record the status plus service end date. Save the email confirmation. If TotalAV, Total Adblock, Total VPN or another service has its own row, repeat the review for each. The main TotalAV review explains which components are part of the antivirus plan and which may be separate.

If you can't sign in or receive the verification code

Reset the password through the official login flow and check the inbox, spam folder and aliases for the account email. A verification code should be entered only on the authenticated TotalAV page you opened independently. Don't read it to a caller or send it in chat. If the address is no longer accessible, use the official help center's account or transaction-recovery route rather than creating a second account and canceling the wrong subscription.

TotalAV's cancellation contact page points people to sign in, reset a forgotten password or locate an account through its transaction search. Submit a support request from that controlled path when self-service can't identify the plan. Include the account email, invoice and service, but never send a full card number, CVV or PIN. A refund deadline makes the request timestamp important, so save proof that you contacted the official channel before the window closed.

Apple billing: cancel under the Apple Account that owns the receipt

Apple's current subscription instructions use Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad. Select TotalAV and choose Cancel Subscription. If there's no cancel button or Apple shows an expiration message, Apple says the subscription is already canceled. On Mac, use App Store → your name → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage.

If TotalAV is missing, search email for “receipt from Apple” or “invoice from Apple” and inspect which Apple Account was charged. Check other accounts and Family Sharing where applicable. If no Apple receipt exists, the seller may have billed directly. Don't ask TotalAV to cancel an Apple-owned agreement while leaving the Apple subscription active; verify the state in the billing account itself.

Apple refund: submit through Report a Problem

Apple's current refund process starts at reportaproblem.apple.com: choose “I'd like to,” Request a refund, the reason and the transaction. Eligibility varies by country, region and transaction. Apple says a pending charge may not be requestable until a receipt is issued, and it provides a status check after submission.

Canceling the subscription and requesting the refund are still separate actions. Save Apple's cancellation state and refund submission. Apple says an update commonly arrives within 24 to 48 hours, while an approved return can take longer to reach the payment method. Don't apply TotalAV's direct 30-day guarantee as a promise that Apple must approve a store transaction; store terms and consumer law control that route.

Google Play billing: cancel under Payments & subscriptions

Google's current subscription guide uses Play Store or play.google.com → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → TotalAV → Cancel subscription. Google explicitly notes that uninstalling the app doesn't cancel the subscription. After cancellation, access normally continues through the paid period unless a refund or special immediate-cancellation rule applies.

If the subscription is missing, switch among Google Accounts and inspect the Google Play receipt. A Play Store installation isn't proof that Google collected the money; compare the order ID and payment descriptor. Save the subscription status and end date. If a prepaid plan or payment plan is involved, read the exact Play terms shown for that transaction rather than assuming the standard recurring-subscription result.

Google Play refund: use the Play request flow

Google's current refund policy says eligibility can depend on how long ago the purchase occurred. Within 48 hours, a refund may be available depending on the details; after 48 hours, Google may direct the customer to the developer. Start with the official Google Play refund flow while signed into the purchasing account.

Record the order ID, cancellation and refund request. TotalAV's billing page says app-store refund requests must be made through the store according to its policy; follow the store's result if it routes you to developer support. Local rules can add rights or immediate-cancellation options in some regions. A general guide can't promise a specific decision for every country and payment plan.

Unknown charge: identify it without exposing the whole card

Check the amount, date, descriptor, receipt emails, PayPal activity, Apple purchase history and Google Play orders. Then use TotalAV's official transaction lookup if the descriptor plausibly belongs to its services. TotalAV says the lookup may request the first six and last four card digits plus expiry to locate a transaction, but not the full card number, CVV or PIN.

Enter those partial details only in the verified help-center flow opened independently. If the charge can't be matched, the card is lost, or other unauthorized transactions appear, contact the card issuer or bank through its official app or the number printed on the card. An unknown descriptor isn't a reason to grant a “billing agent” remote access to the computer.

One account can contain several separately billed services

TotalAV's Billing Centre says TotalAV, Total Adblock, Total VPN and other services may appear together for convenience while remaining separately billed and managed. Canceling the antivirus doesn't automatically cancel an independent companion product. Review every row, invoice and next billing date instead of treating the account as one bundle.

This distinction matters because add-ons can have a different refund window even when billed annually. Link the name on each charge to the product you actually use: Total Adblock, TotalAV VPN, Total Password and System Tune-Up have different account, permission and value questions. Cancel only the services you intend, but don't leave an overlooked renewal active.

Current direct-billing refund windows: 30 days or 14 days

TotalAV's current money-back page states that annual and biannual subscriptions are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of initial purchase or renewal. Monthly and quarterly subscriptions, plus add-on services, use 14 days after initial purchase or renewal. The current legal terms likewise require both cancellation of the relevant service and a refund request within the applicable period.

Count from the transaction that you want refunded, not from when you noticed the email. Submit promptly and preserve the request time. These are direct vendor windows and don't remove rights provided by local law. They also don't control Apple or Google decisions. When the deadline is close, turn off renewal and submit the refund request on the same visit rather than waiting for support to answer a general question.

TotalAV auto-renewal cancellation compared with a separate 30-day or 14-day direct refund request
Canceling preserves access to the term end; a processed direct refund terminates the relevant service. Check every separately billed item.

Annual and biannual direct plans: the 30-day rule includes renewal

The 30-day direct-billing period begins after the initial purchase or the renewal charge. That renewal language is important: a customer who missed the reminder may still be inside the stated guarantee. Open billing history, identify the exact renewal invoice and calculate the request date from that charge. Don't rely on a generic account creation date.

Disable future renewal and request termination plus refund for the named service. State the invoice number, charge date, service and that the request is within the money-back period. If several services renewed separately, list each one. A companion add-on may use the 14-day rule instead, so don't assume every line on an annual-looking statement shares the main plan's window.

Monthly, quarterly and add-on services: the 14-day rule

TotalAV currently groups monthly and quarterly terms with additional services under a 14-day refund period after activation or renewal. Its help page notes that an add-on can follow this shorter window even if it was billed annually. This is why the service name and invoice matter more than the total account charge.

Submit the refund request immediately when an add-on or shorter plan is unwanted. Explain whether it was activated intentionally, bundled during an upgrade or charged at renewal. TotalAV's overcharge guidance asks users to review upgrades, add-ons and billing cycle and to include the account email, invoice and unexpected-charge details when contacting support.

How to request a direct TotalAV refund

Sign in, confirm the service and billing history, then enter the refund route through the authenticated account or official Billing Help Centre. TotalAV asks for the account email, purchase date and invoice number. Use a short unambiguous request: identify the service and transaction, ask for full termination and refund under the applicable money-back period, and ask for written confirmation.

Don't let a discount offer or extended term change the request unless you deliberately accept it. If support asks a reasonable identity question, answer only within the verified channel. Never send the full card number, CVV, PIN, banking password or one-time code. Save the transcript or ticket, submission time and case identifier. Cancellation confirmation alone isn't proof that a refund request was opened.

Charged after renewal: act on both future and past money

A renewal charge creates two jobs. Stop the next automatic renewal so another cycle isn't scheduled, then request a refund for the charge that already happened. Quote the renewal invoice and submit within the correct 30-day or 14-day direct window. If the portal already showed renewal off before the charge, preserve that earlier proof and state the discrepancy.

Check whether the charge is actually a different service, delayed presentment or app-store transaction. Don't assume the largest amount belongs to the antivirus plan. If the vendor can't resolve a recognized charge, discuss the evidence and dispute options with the payment provider before its deadline. If the transaction is genuinely unauthorized or the card is compromised, contact the financial provider immediately rather than waiting through an ordinary retention flow.

Introductory price versus renewal price isn't a duplicate charge

TotalAV's current promotional-pricing explanation says the first billing period may use an introductory discount and the next term renews at the regular rate shown at checkout and in the confirmation email. A higher renewal can therefore be the scheduled price, not two payments for one period. It can still be unwanted and eligible for a timely refund request.

Compare the original checkout, renewal reminder, invoice and billing history. Separate a regular-price renewal from an immediate add-on, upgrade or duplicate authorization. Our TotalAV Free versus paid guide explains entitlement changes, while the pricing guide owns current plan and renewal-cost comparisons. Billing evidence should decide the cancellation route, not memory of an advertised “per month” equivalent.

What a complete cancellation confirmation should prove

The portal should show auto-renewal disabled or a clear canceled state for the exact service, plus the date access ends. The email should name the service and account. Save both. A generic “request received” page proves submission, not completion; a discount-declined screen proves neither. Return to the service list and verify there's no next billing date for that agreement.

Make sure the confirmation isn't only for one add-on while the main plan remains active, or vice versa. Record Apple or Google status in their subscription screens as well as any email. Set a calendar check before the former renewal date and review the payment method after it passes. Evidence is useful only if it maps to the exact service and billing owner.

Refund approved: separate vendor processing from bank posting

TotalAV says most approved direct refunds are processed within 24 to 48 hours, with up to 10 working days depending on the payment provider. “Approved,” “processed” and “posted to the card” are different events. Keep the approval time and original payment method, then watch the account that funded the purchase. A replaced card can still receive returns through the issuer's account mapping, but the issuer controls the final posting.

If the stated period passes, reply through the same verified case with the invoice and approval. Ask for a refund reference or transaction trace that the bank can use. Don't pay a release fee, buy gift cards or move money to receive a refund. A real refund returns through the payment channel; it doesn't require remote access to online banking.

Unexpected add-on or overcharge: identify the line item first

Review the current plan, separately activated features, upgrades, billing cycle and second invoice. TotalAV says add-ons are charged when activated and an upgrade can produce another invoice. That explanation doesn't settle whether the activation was clear or authorized; it tells you which record to inspect. Preserve the page or email that described the transaction.

Contact official billing support quickly and state whether you knowingly activated the item. Request cancellation and refund for the exact add-on if it's within the 14-day direct window. Don't cancel a working antivirus plan merely because an independent VPN or ad blocker charge is disputed. The site architecture keeps companion products separate so readers can decide what to retain without leaving protection uncertain.

When to contact the bank or payment provider

Contact the financial provider immediately when the card is lost, the transaction is genuinely unauthorized, several fraud charges appear, or a scammer obtained payment credentials. For a recognized TotalAV renewal inside the money-back window, the cleanest record usually starts with portal cancellation and a documented refund request, then escalates if the vendor doesn't resolve it. Payment-provider dispute deadlines still apply.

Describe the transaction accurately: authorized purchase followed by disputed renewal, canceled-before-renewal charge, unclear add-on or card fraud aren't the same claim. Provide the invoice, cancellation state, request time and vendor response. Don't call a bank number supplied by an email about the charge; use the card, banking app or official statement. A chargeback can terminate service and the payment relationship, so preserve needed account data first.

What happens to protection after cancellation or refund

Stopping auto-renewal normally leaves paid features active until the displayed term end. A processed direct refund ends access immediately according to TotalAV's current policy. If Real-Time Protection depends on that paid entitlement, plan the handoff before the refund is completed. Confirm the intended provider in Windows Security or install a verified replacement without running two primary real-time suites indefinitely.

Don't keep paying only because you fear an unprotected gap. Microsoft Defender can resume when a compatible third-party provider is removed, while macOS and mobile platforms have different security boundaries. The Windows 11 antivirus guide and Mac antivirus guide help choose the replacement; the TotalAV review explains what functionality is lost at term end.

What community reports add—and what they can't prove

Older r/antivirus cancellation reports describe retention screens and confusion between disabling renewal and terminating a plan. Another refund thread describes multiple account actions before the user found the termination path. These cases justify saving each state, but old interface descriptions shouldn't override the current self-service portal.

A 2025 r/Scams TotalAV renewal case describes a search-result support number leading to a remote-access request. That's a useful warning about refund-scam escalation, not evidence that every real TotalAV invoice is fraudulent. Community evidence reveals where people get lost; current vendor, store and payment-provider records decide the action.

Avoid fake cancellation and refund support

Current search results are polluted by PDFs and forum posts uploaded to unrelated institutional and community domains with repeated “TotalAV cancellation” phone numbers. Don't call them. A domain belonging to an agency, school, standards group or charity doesn't authenticate a user-uploaded document. The same attack appeared in the fake-pop-up research, and our fake TotalAV alert guide explains the remote-access recovery path.

Enter through the signed-in TotalAV portal, official billing help, Apple, Google Play, PayPal or the bank's verified channel. A legitimate agent doesn't need remote control of the computer or online-banking screen to cancel a subscription. Never disclose a one-time code or transfer money to “receive” a refund. Save the suspicious origin without engaging and report it through the platform that displayed it.

How to prove cancellation and refund are complete

For each service, confirm the billing owner, canceled state, auto-renewal off status and end date. Reopen the portal or store in a fresh session and check again. Match the confirmation email to the same service. For a refund, keep the request, case, approval and final credit in the original payment account. Don't mark a refund complete because access ended; money must also post.

Review every separately billed service and set a reminder before its former renewal date. Verify that no new invoice appears and that the intended security provider is active after entitlement changes. A reliable record answers five questions: who billed, which service, what stopped, what was refunded and when the bank posted it. Anything less is a request in progress, not a closed billing task.

TotalAV cancellation and refund FAQ

How do I cancel a TotalAV subscription bought on the website?

Sign in to the secure TotalAV Online Portal, open My Subscriptions, choose the exact service and select Cancel Subscription. Direct website billing uses an email verification code before changing billing preferences. Finish the flow, confirm that auto-renewal is off, record the service end date and save the confirmation email or screenshot.

Does canceling TotalAV give me a refund?

No. Turning off auto-renewal stops the next renewal but normally leaves the paid service active until the term ends. A refund is a separate request and, for direct TotalAV billing, requires termination of the relevant service. TotalAV says access ends immediately once the refund is processed.

What is TotalAV's current money-back window?

For eligible direct annual or biannual subscriptions, TotalAV currently states 30 days after initial purchase or renewal. For monthly, quarterly and add-on services, it states 14 days after initial purchase or renewal, including add-ons that may be billed annually. App-store rules and local consumer law may differ.

Can I get a refund after a TotalAV auto-renewal charge?

The current direct-billing policy applies its 30-day or 14-day window after renewal as well as initial purchase. Check the exact service and invoice immediately, stop its future renewal, and submit a separate refund request through the verified account or support route. Apple and Google Play purchases follow their store processes.

Does uninstalling TotalAV cancel the subscription?

No. Uninstalling removes software from a device; it doesn't change a billing agreement held by TotalAV, Apple or Google Play. Cancel with the billing owner, verify the renewal status and retain confirmation. Only then uninstall or replace the security software while keeping another intended provider active.

Why is TotalAV not listed in my Apple or Google subscriptions?

The charge may have been billed directly by TotalAV, through a different Apple or Google account, or as a separately billed companion service. Check the receipt and bank descriptor, search every relevant store account, and compare the transaction with the TotalAV portal. Don't assume that deleting the app canceled a missing subscription.

Do I need to cancel Total Adblock, Total VPN or Total Password separately?

Possibly. TotalAV's Billing Centre says multiple services can appear together in one account while remaining separately billed and managed. Review every service, renewal date and invoice. Cancel each billing agreement you no longer want; stopping the antivirus plan doesn't automatically close an independent add-on or companion subscription.

How long does a TotalAV refund take?

TotalAV says most approved direct refunds are processed within 24 to 48 hours, but the payment provider may take up to 10 working days. Treat those as vendor estimates, not a guaranteed bank posting date. Keep the approval message and case identifier, then follow up through the same verified channel if the stated period passes.

What information should I save before canceling TotalAV?

Save the billing owner, account email, exact service, plan term, renewal date, invoice number, charge date and amount. After cancellation, save the portal state, end date, email confirmation and time. For a refund, also keep the request text, submission time, case identifier, approval and final bank posting.

How do I avoid fake TotalAV refund support?

Enter through the signed-in TotalAV portal, official help center, Apple, Google Play or your bank's own app and card contact. Don't call a number copied from a search-result PDF, forum upload or unexpected renewal email. A legitimate refund doesn't require remote access, a one-time banking code, gift cards or sending money back.

Verdict: cancel the agreement, not just the app

Start with the receipt and billing owner. Cancel the exact direct, Apple or Google Play subscription, check every separate service and save the confirmed end state. That stops future money. If you want a past charge returned, submit the separate refund request within the rule that applies to that service and owner.

The strongest cancellation record is boring and specific: invoice, service, renewal date, portal or store status, confirmation, refund case and bank credit. It prevents an overlooked add-on from renewing and gives support or the payment provider evidence if something goes wrong—without exposing you to search-result phone scams or an unnecessary remote session.
