TotalAV Plans and Pricing: The First-Term Deal and Real Renewal Cost

TotalAV's $19 opening price is real, but it's only one line of the contract. The useful comparison is $19 versus $99, which services renew separately, and whether four, six, or eight device slots still make sense after the discount ends.

Official prices checkedRenewal math shownSeparate services audited

Quick answer: TotalAV's current direct US offers start at $19 for Plus, $39 for Internet Security, and $49 for Total Security. Their displayed regular annual rates are $99, $129, and $149. Internet Security is the practical middle tier if you'll use its six device slots and bundled VPN; Plus is better when you only want the antivirus; Total Security needs eight useful devices and Total Password to justify itself. Save the cart and inspect every product under My Subscriptions because TotalAV-family services can bill separately.

TotalAV prices and device limits in 2026

We checked TotalAV's direct US-facing product and checkout paths on July 31, 2026. The first column below is the introductory payment for the first annual term; the second is the regular annual rate shown by TotalAV for renewal. Campaigns, eligibility, tax, currency, and region can change the first figure, so the final cart and confirmation email remain your contract evidence.

The names can also drift between old reviews and the current storefront. Total AV Plus is the entry plan that older pages may call Antivirus Pro or Premium. Internet Security is the six-device VPN tier, and Total Security is the eight-device tier with VPN and Total Password. Compare the entitlement and device count, not just the label on a search result.

The regular prices and feature placement come from TotalAV's official plan comparison. The $19/$39/$49 acquisition offers were checked through a current direct campaign path rather than copied from an undated review. Because the opening promotion can move, this page deliberately avoids encoding it as a permanent Schema.org Offer.

TotalAV Plus Internet Security and Total Security first-term prices compared with regular annual renewal rates
US price snapshot checked July 31, 2026. The cart controls the offer; the regular annual rate is the number to use for a long-term budget.

Why TotalAV jumps from $19 to $99

The $19 payment isn't a discounted version of every future year. TotalAV's promotional-pricing explanation says the discount applies to the first billing period and that the subscription renews at the regular rate afterward. It also says the renewal amount is disclosed during checkout, in the order confirmation, and in the online portal.

For Plus, that means an $80 increase and a renewal payment about 5.21 times the first-term price. Internet Security rises by $90, or about 3.31 times, while Total Security rises by $100, or about 3.04 times. Those multipliers are calculations from the July 31 snapshot, not a promise that either the promotion or regular rate will remain unchanged.

Do the year-two test before checkout: if the cart says $19 today, ask whether the same four-device service is worth $99 next year. A good introductory deal can still be a poor unattended renewal, and a large percentage jump doesn't automatically make the product bad if the ongoing bundle replaces services you already buy.

Total AV Plus: the disciplined antivirus choice

Plus covers four devices and includes the common security layer: real-time antivirus, malware and phishing defenses, potentially unwanted application detection, ransomware protection, and system-cleanup tools. At $19 for the first term it's the cheapest route into the paid product, but the $99 regular annual rate is the comparison point for anyone planning to keep it.

Choose Plus when your requirement is straightforward protection for a small collection of Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS devices and you don't want to pay for an included VPN or password manager. The complete protection and performance verdict belongs in our TotalAV review; this pricing page doesn't turn a cheaper plan into a different lab score.

Be careful when adding services at checkout. TotalAV says VPN and Total Password can be purchased separately alongside Plus. A discounted add-on can make the opening cart look flexible while creating another renewal line, so record its term, regular price, and cancellation control before treating Plus as the cheapest configuration.

Internet Security: the most balanced TotalAV tier

Internet Security expands coverage to six devices and includes Total VPN. Its $39 first term is only $20 above Plus, while the displayed $129 regular annual rate is $30 above Plus. That makes the tier rational when the VPN will be used consistently; an unused VPN turns the upgrade into six device slots purchased at a premium.

The current price works out to $6.50 per covered device for the first term and $21.50 per covered device at renewal if all six slots are used. Per-device math is a planning tool, not proof of value. A single person with a laptop and phone doesn't receive a six-device bargain merely because four slots remain empty.

We would choose this tier for a household with four to six active devices that wants one account for antivirus and everyday encrypted browsing. Frequent travelers should still compare the VPN's practical limits against our security guide for travelers; a bundled VPN is useful only if it meets the locations, devices, speed, and privacy needs that prompted the purchase.

Total Security: eight devices plus Total Password

Total Security covers eight devices and includes both Total VPN and Total Password. The opening price is $49 and the current regular annual rate is $149. It has the lowest renewal cost per available slot in the line-up—about $18.63—but only when a household actually fills those slots and uses both bundled services.

The deciding question isn't whether $49 is only $10 more than Internet Security. It's whether Total Password and two extra devices are worth a recurring $20 difference at today's regular rates. If everyone already uses a trusted password manager, the bundle duplicates an existing tool; if eight family devices need coverage and there's no shared password manager, the upgrade is easier to defend.

Don't infer that the top tier unlocks a different antivirus engine or universally available feature set on every operating system. Mobile security can't behave like a Windows desktop scanner because the platforms expose different controls. For platform-specific buying decisions, compare our Windows 11, Mac, Android, and iPhone security guides.

Cost per device exposes empty-slot value

Device limits are maximums, not households. Divide the price by the devices you'll actually protect, not the number printed on the plan. If Plus protects two devices, its current regular rate is $49.50 per used device; if Internet Security protects six, its equivalent is $21.50. The higher tier can be cheaper per active device despite costing more overall.

PlanFirst-term cost per available slotRenewal cost per available slotTwo-year total at current ratesBest fit
Plus$4.75$24.75$118Up to four devices, no bundled VPN needed
Internet Security$6.50$21.50$168Four to six devices and useful VPN
Total Security$6.13$18.63$198Seven or eight devices plus password manager

The two-year figure simply adds the first-term payment and one year at the current regular rate. It isn't a guaranteed future invoice, but it stops the first-year campaign from dominating the decision. The same method is used in our 2026 antivirus renewal-price report when comparing vendors with different discounts and renewal structures.

Free scan, trial, and paid protection aren't the same purchase

TotalAV's free entry points are useful for discovering the interface or running a scan, but a detection screen isn't proof that continuous paid protection is active. The commercial plans add real-time defenses and other entitlements. Read the activation state and subscription page rather than assuming that installing a free app starts the same coverage advertised in a paid plan.

Promotional pages may also present a trial or first-term discount. Record whether the checkout says free trial, paid introductory term, monthly billing, or annual billing, because each produces a different deadline and refund calculation. Readers who want permanent no-cost protection should compare the products in our free antivirus guide instead of treating a temporary discount as a free plan.

One TotalAV login can contain separate subscriptions

This is the easiest billing detail to miss. TotalAV's billing help center says TotalAV, Total Adblock, and Total VPN purchased under the same email can appear together in one portal. It also says each subscription is billed and managed separately unless the customer is notified otherwise.

That means “I canceled TotalAV” may not describe every paid service under the login. Open My Subscriptions and inventory each product's status, next payment date, amount, merchant, and cancellation state. If Total Password or another service appears, apply the same test even when it was originally offered alongside the antivirus.

TotalAV account inventory showing antivirus Adblock and VPN as separately managed subscriptions
One account view can contain several payment relationships. Audit and confirm each service separately.

Total Adblock deserves especially careful treatment because product and campaign pages can package it differently. We don't label it universally included in any tier based on a marketing-family graphic. If it matters to your purchase, require the cart and receipt to name it as included rather than assuming that a shared brand or login means one combined subscription.

The checkout audit that prevents most price surprises

A useful checkout record needs more than a screenshot of the large discount. Capture the plan name, number of devices, billing period, payment due today, regular renewal amount, next payment date, included services, separate add-ons, tax, merchant, refund window, and billing channel. Save the complete page or confirmation email where those fields appear together.

  • Match the term. A monthly equivalent beside an annual payment isn't monthly billing.
  • Expand the cart. Check every optional service and trial before submitting payment.
  • Name the merchant. Direct TotalAV, Apple, Google, and a reseller have different management routes.
  • Record the next amount. The opening payment isn't enough for a renewal calendar.
  • Keep the receipt. It's stronger evidence than a later search snippet or generic landing page.

Use the official portal or support site from a bookmark or typed domain. Search results for antivirus billing queries are polluted by third-party pages carrying unverified phone numbers. A number printed on a random PDF or forum post isn't safer merely because it appears high in search.

How TotalAV automatic renewal works

TotalAV says subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each term unless canceled. Its auto-renewal guide directs customers to the portal for the next payment date, while the promotional-pricing page says the upcoming amount is visible there. That account view is more useful than counting twelve months from an installation date.

The reminder wording isn't perfectly uniform across TotalAV's own surfaces. The billing center says annual reminder email can arrive up to 30 days before renewal, while product-page footnotes describe at least 15 days. We wouldn't build a cancellation plan around either email window. Put the portal date in your calendar when you buy, then check again 45 and 30 days before it.

Turning off renewal and ending every feature aren't necessarily identical events. TotalAV's paid-features help page says some Continuous Protection functionality can depend on auto-renewal. Read the exact confirmation and maintain another active security layer before the subscription ends; our guide to what happens when antivirus expires covers that handoff.

The merchant controls where you manage the payment

A direct TotalAV web purchase belongs in the TotalAV portal. An iPhone or Android subscription purchased through an app store is managed through that store, and a reseller transaction can have its own terms. Start with the card statement and receipt if the service isn't visible where expected; don't repeatedly subscribe through another channel to “fix” a missing entitlement.

The official subscription-details guide is the right place to locate direct account status and future billing. If several services appear, compare their next-payment dates to the bank statement independently. One customer number or login doesn't prove one invoice.

If you don't recognize a charge: verify the merchant descriptor, search the official portal, check Apple or Google subscriptions, and use TotalAV's official transaction or support path. Don't give remote access, card details, or a verification code to a phone number copied from an unaffiliated search result.

TotalAV refund windows depend on the term

TotalAV's current money-back policy gives annual and biannual subscriptions a 30-day window. Monthly, quarterly, and add-on subscriptions have a 14-day window. Eligibility still depends on the purchase and billing channel, so use the transaction date and exact subscription type rather than assuming every TotalAV-family charge gets 30 days.

Canceling future renewal doesn't itself request a refund for a completed charge. Conversely, an approved refund can end access rather than leaving the paid term active. Arrange replacement protection before asking a refunded antivirus subscription to terminate, and keep both the refund case and the separate cancellation status until the money returns.

App-store purchases go through the relevant store's process. If the card statement shows Apple or Google, opening a direct TotalAV refund request may not reach the merchant that owns the transaction. The legal baseline is available in TotalAV's terms updated February 25, 2026, but the receipt and channel-specific policy determine the practical route.

What community complaints can and can't tell us

Current r/antivirus threads include users who describe difficulty finishing cancellation or understanding whether it completed. A March 2026 cancellation-help post and an older walkthrough from another customer both point to confirmation friction. They're individual reports, not audited evidence that every account behaves the same way.

The defensible lesson is procedural: continue until the portal shows the service canceled, save the confirmation, return later to verify it, and watch the statement. Community posts are useful for spotting failure modes that official copy may not emphasize. They don't justify inventing a complaint rate or calling every renewal unauthorized.

Country, currency, and campaign pages can change the answer

This guide uses a US-dollar snapshot because mixing countries creates a table that looks precise while comparing different contracts. TotalAV localizes its pages, promotions, tax treatment, consumer-law disclosures, and sometimes the way plans are named. A dollar symbol on a search result doesn't prove that the visitor reached the US offer, and a VPN or affiliate link can send the browser through another campaign path.

Before paying, scroll to the page footer and checkout summary, confirm the country and currency, and compare the regular renewal in that same market. Don't convert a US renewal price with a currency calculator and assume it predicts a UK, Canadian, Australian, or European invoice. Local VAT, promotional eligibility, and the vendor's regional price book can all change the result independently of exchange rates.

Campaign landing pages also age badly in search. A third-party review can accurately report the checkout it saw and still be wrong for your cart several months later. Our dated figures are there to make the editorial evidence auditable, not to override a newer disclosure. If your cart differs, save it and use its exact term and renewal amount for the decision.

What TotalAV costs over three years at today's rates

A three-year model makes the promotion easier to put in proportion. We add the current first-term payment to two years at the displayed regular annual rate: Plus totals $217, Internet Security $297, and Total Security $347. Divided by three, that's about $72.33, $99, and $115.67 per year. These are planning calculations rather than guaranteed future bills because TotalAV can change regular rates with notice.

PlanYear oneYears two and threeCalculated three-year totalAverage per year
Plus$19$198$217$72.33
Internet Security$39$258$297$99.00
Total Security$49$298$347$115.67

The model changes the upgrade conversation. Internet Security is only $20 more than Plus in year one, but $80 more across this three-year snapshot. Total Security is only $10 above Internet Security at checkout, yet $50 above it across three years. A small acquisition gap isn't a small long-term gap when the renewal difference repeats.

Recalculate with the number of years you realistically keep security software. If you review subscriptions annually and are willing to switch, a three-year model is a stress test rather than a commitment. If you manage protection for a relative who is unlikely to switch, the current regular rate deserves even more weight than the launch discount.

When another antivirus is the better financial fit

TotalAV isn't automatically expensive because its percentage increase is large. Its first price starts unusually low, which makes the percentage dramatic. Compare competitors using the same term, device count, renewal state, and included services. A rival that renews for less but covers one device may cost more for a six-device household; a larger bundle may waste money for a single laptop.

The cleanest alternative for a careful Windows user can be Microsoft Defender plus strong browser, account, and backup hygiene. That avoids a third-party antivirus renewal, but it doesn't reproduce TotalAV's bundled VPN, password manager, multi-platform account, or support relationship. Free protection shifts responsibility to the user rather than making security costless.

If you compare paid rivals, start with the renewal-price report and then open the exact product review. Look for current independent lab coverage, platform limits, renewal amount, number of installations, and whether the attractive extra is actually available on the devices you own. A lower price doesn't repair weaker fit, and a stronger test result doesn't excuse a contract you can't manage.

Which TotalAV plan should you buy?

Choose Plus

You need protection for no more than four devices and already have a VPN and password manager you trust. Budget $99, not $19, and decline separate services that duplicate your setup.

Choose Internet Security

You have four to six active devices and will use the included VPN. This is our practical default because the regular-rate premium over Plus is smaller than buying an unused top-tier bundle.

Choose Total Security

You can use seven or eight device slots and want both VPN and Total Password under the same product family. Confirm those services are included rather than separately added in your specific cart.

Choose another route

You only protect one or two devices, dislike large promotion-to-renewal changes, or already own every bundled tool. Compare the antivirus comparisons and free options on long-term cost, not only today's coupon.

The security result still matters more than packaging. Read our updated full TotalAV review for current AV-TEST and AV-Comparatives results, hands-on behavior, performance, ownership, and the product's trade-offs before treating the middle tier as an automatic recommendation.

TotalAV pricing and renewal FAQ

How much does TotalAV cost after the first year?

In the US price snapshot checked July 31, 2026, Total AV Plus has a $99 regular annual rate, Internet Security $129, and Total Security $149. The first-term offers were $19, $39, and $49. Your cart, receipt, account portal, country, tax, and billing channel control the actual amount.

Why does TotalAV get more expensive at renewal?

The low acquisition price is an introductory promotion for the first billing period. TotalAV says the subscription then renews at the regular rate disclosed during checkout, in the confirmation email, and in the portal. The current increases are substantial, so compare the regular rate before buying.

Which TotalAV plan is the best value?

Internet Security is the most balanced tier when you'll use its six device slots and included VPN. Plus is the disciplined choice for core protection without a bundled VPN, while Total Security only earns its premium when eight devices and Total Password are genuinely useful.

Is TotalAV VPN included in every plan?

No. The current official comparison includes Total VPN with Internet Security and Total Security. TotalAV also says the VPN can be purchased separately alongside Plus, which can create another subscription to inspect and manage.

Is Total Password included with TotalAV?

Total Password is included with the current Total Security tier. TotalAV says it can also be purchased separately alongside Plus. Check the final cart and My Subscriptions page because a separate service may have its own payment date and cancellation control.

Is Total Adblock included with TotalAV?

Don't assume it's included from the product-family branding alone. TotalAV storefront paths and promotions can package services differently, while the billing help center identifies Total Adblock as a service that may be separately billed and managed. The checkout and receipt are decisive.

Does TotalAV renew automatically?

Yes, direct subscriptions automatically renew at the end of their term unless canceled. The portal shows the next payment date and amount. Set your own reminder and inspect every listed service rather than relying only on an email reminder.

What is the TotalAV refund window?

TotalAV's current policy gives annual and biannual subscriptions a 30-day money-back window, while monthly, quarterly, and add-on subscriptions have 14 days. Store purchases follow the store's process, and turning off renewal isn't the same as requesting a refund.

Can TotalAV, Total Adblock, and Total VPN charge separately?

Yes. TotalAV's billing help center says multiple products can appear under one email login while each subscription is billed and managed separately unless the customer is told otherwise. Check status, next payment, merchant, and cancellation confirmation for every service.

What happens if I turn off TotalAV auto-renewal?

The paid term normally continues until its end date, but TotalAV says some Continuous Protection features may depend on automatic renewal. Read the account confirmation, confirm the end date, and arrange replacement protection before coverage stops.

Verdict: buy the renewal, not the discount

TotalAV's first-term pricing is genuinely inexpensive, but the long-term decision starts at $99, $129, or $149. Internet Security is the cleanest fit for a multi-device household that will use the VPN. Plus is better when the antivirus is all you need, and Total Security should be reserved for households that can use eight slots and Total Password.

Whichever tier you choose, save the complete cart, list every service under My Subscriptions, and put the next-payment date in your own calendar. Then read the TotalAV review to decide whether the product itself deserves the contract. A transparent renewal plan fixes the billing surprise; it can't substitute for a security verdict.
