Intego Pricing: Plans, Renewal Cost and Refunds
Intego ONE has only three names, yet the buying decision spans 18 combinations of tier, term and Mac count. The expensive mistake isn't choosing the wrong color card; it's treating an introductory price as the permanent bill, or assuming a checkout campaign is the universal renewal rate. We mapped every published configuration, checked the actual renewal rules and calculated when two years really saves money.

Quick answer: Essential is the sensible default at $39.99 introductory and $49.99 standard renewal for one Mac and one year. Advanced adds SmartClean; Complete adds the VPN. A two-year term is cheaper than one introductory year plus one standard annual renewal in all 18 official configurations, but Complete has the sharpest published renewal jump. Save the exact checkout disclosure because Intego campaigns can produce an order-specific amount that differs from the public support table.
Intego prices in 2026: all 18 ONE configurations
Intego's official ONE package table, dated July 20 and checked again August 6, lists three tiers, one- and two-year terms, and coverage for one, three or five Macs. Those choices create 18 plan configurations. The first amount below is the introductory US price; the second is the crossed-out standard rate that Intego says applies after the initial term, before regional tax.
This is the public reference table, not a promise that every visitor sees the same cart. A promotion, country, currency or account-specific renewal can change the actual order. Keep the check date with the figures and let your checkout or signed-in account control when it shows a different future charge.
| Tier | Term | Macs | Intro price | Published standard renewal | Renewal increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | 1 year | 1 | $39.99 | $49.99 | $10.00 / 25.0% |
| Essential | 1 year | 3 | $54.99 | $66.99 | $12.00 / 21.8% |
| Essential | 1 year | 5 | $69.99 | $84.99 | $15.00 / 21.4% |
| Essential | 2 years | 1 | $74.99 | $92.99 | $18.00 / 24.0% |
| Essential | 2 years | 3 | $99.99 | $121.99 | $22.00 / 22.0% |
| Essential | 2 years | 5 | $124.99 | $152.99 | $28.00 / 22.4% |
| Advanced | 1 year | 1 | $69.99 | $84.99 | $15.00 / 21.4% |
| Advanced | 1 year | 3 | $94.99 | $115.99 | $21.00 / 22.1% |
| Advanced | 1 year | 5 | $119.99 | $146.99 | $27.00 / 22.5% |
| Advanced | 2 years | 1 | $129.99 | $158.99 | $29.00 / 22.3% |
| Advanced | 2 years | 3 | $174.99 | $213.99 | $39.00 / 22.3% |
| Advanced | 2 years | 5 | $219.99 | $268.99 | $49.00 / 22.3% |
| Complete | 1 year | 1 | $89.99 | $134.99 | $45.00 / 50.0% |
| Complete | 1 year | 3 | $114.99 | $165.99 | $51.00 / 44.4% |
| Complete | 1 year | 5 | $139.99 | $196.99 | $57.00 / 40.7% |
| Complete | 2 years | 1 | $149.99 | $258.99 | $109.00 / 72.7% |
| Complete | 2 years | 3 | $194.99 | $313.99 | $119.00 / 61.0% |
| Complete | 2 years | 5 | $239.99 | $368.99 | $129.00 / 53.8% |
The table exposes two useful patterns. Adding Macs becomes cheaper per seat, while moving from Advanced to Complete becomes much more expensive after renewal than the first order suggests. Complete for one Mac and two years rises from $149.99 to a published $258.99 for the next two-year term—the largest percentage increase in the official ladder.
Why the official table and your Intego checkout can disagree
We saw the public plan table and an official organic checkout session produce different renewal figures on the same day. The checkout carried a campaign code and disclosed a lower first payment and lower future charge than the standard table for several configurations. That isn't evidence that one page is fake; it's evidence that the order-specific contract matters more than a generic price grid.
Intego's current renewal-price explanation says ONE normally renews at the original MSRP for the plan and term, and that an introductory discount doesn't carry over. It also points customers to Billing & Invoices and the Your Plan page for the upcoming amount and date. A checkout can still form a more specific offer, so capture its exact automatic-renewal sentence rather than relying on a percentage badge.
The safe hierarchy is simple: your completed order and signed-in account first, the renewal notice second, and the current public table third. An article is useful for comparing configurations, but it can't see the campaign, tax treatment and contract attached to your email address.
One year vs two years: the real saving
The two-year button lowers the average annual cost in every published configuration. We compared the two-year introductory payment with the cost of a one-year introductory purchase followed by one standard annual renewal. The saving is real, but it comes from paying the entire two-year term upfront and accepting a longer product commitment.
| Tier / Macs | 1-year intro + 1 annual renewal | 2-year intro | Two-year-term saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential / 1 | $89.98 | $74.99 | $14.99 |
| Essential / 3 | $121.98 | $99.99 | $21.99 |
| Essential / 5 | $154.98 | $124.99 | $29.99 |
| Advanced / 1 | $154.98 | $129.99 | $24.99 |
| Advanced / 3 | $210.98 | $174.99 | $35.99 |
| Advanced / 5 | $266.98 | $219.99 | $46.99 |
| Complete / 1 | $224.98 | $149.99 | $74.99 |
| Complete / 3 | $280.98 | $194.99 | $85.99 |
| Complete / 5 | $336.98 | $239.99 | $96.99 |
Complete shows the biggest two-year saving because its annual standard rate is high, not because the VPN suddenly becomes more valuable. A buyer who hasn't tested Intego's real-time engine, firewall prompts and macOS permissions should still consider one year. The 30-day refund window isn't a substitute for twelve months of product fit, and a prepaid term normally remains paid after that window even if auto-renewal is disabled.
Three- and four-year cost reveals the renewal cliff
For annual plans, we modeled three years as the introductory year plus two renewals at today's published standard rate. For two-year plans, the four-year model is the introductory term plus one standard two-year renewal. Intego can change future pricing with advance notice, so these totals are comparison math rather than a guaranteed invoice.
| Plan / Macs | Three years on annual terms | Four years on two-year terms | Published renewal pattern |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential / 1 | $139.97 | $167.98 | Moderate |
| Essential / 3 | $188.97 | $221.98 | Moderate |
| Essential / 5 | $239.97 | $277.98 | Moderate |
| Advanced / 1 | $239.97 | $288.98 | Moderate |
| Advanced / 3 | $326.97 | $388.98 | Moderate |
| Advanced / 5 | $413.97 | $488.98 | Moderate |
| Complete / 1 | $359.97 | $408.98 | Steep |
| Complete / 3 | $446.97 | $508.98 | Steep |
| Complete / 5 | $533.97 | $608.98 | Steep |

The three-year gap between Essential and Complete on one Mac is $220. Complete must therefore replace more than a cheap VPN to earn its place. Our antivirus renewal-price report uses the same rule across vendors: compare the same market, device count and term, then keep the first payment separate from the continuing cost.
Essential is the security-first value choice
Essential contains the two components most buyers associate with Intego: real-time antivirus and the incoming/outgoing application firewall. It doesn't use a weaker malware engine merely because SmartClean and VPN are absent. For one Mac, the official annual pair is $39.99 introductory and $49.99 standard; five Macs are $69.99 and $84.99.
This is the clean default when the job is protecting Macs rather than replacing several utilities. Our current Intego review covers the mixed 2026 lab picture—18/18 at AV-TEST but 96.7% Mac-malware protection at AV-Comparatives—and the absence of malicious/fraudulent-site protection in the latter test. A lower tier doesn't change those product-level strengths and limits.
Advanced charges for SmartClean, not stronger detection
Advanced is Essential plus SmartClean. On one Mac, that changes the annual price from $39.99 to $69.99 initially and from $49.99 to $84.99 at the published standard rate. The five-Mac annual gap is $50 at introduction and $62 at renewal.
Pay that difference only when the cleanup module replaces a tool or routine you'd otherwise use. Storage cleanup can be convenient, but it isn't malware protection and it should never be valued as though it improves the independent antivirus result. macOS already exposes storage recommendations, while some users prefer to review large files manually before deleting them.
Complete makes the VPN decision expensive at renewal
Complete adds Intego VPN to Advanced. The one-Mac annual offer starts at $89.99 and publishes a $134.99 standard renewal; the two-year version moves from $149.99 to $258.99. That two-year jump is large enough that the renewal amount deserves its own calendar reminder even when the first-term bundle looks attractive.
Value the VPN against a real alternative, not against the word “Complete.” Check the locations, protocol behavior, kill switch, streaming needs and privacy evidence you care about. We didn't find a current primary independent audit in the reviewed Intego materials that would justify treating every privacy claim as externally verified, so price is only one part of the decision.
Buy Mac seats, not an imaginary mixed-device family plan
ONE's one-, three- and five-device choices mean Macs. A three-Mac subscription is ideal for a desktop, laptop and family Mac only when all three can run the supported product. Unused seats don't roll into a Windows license, and adding phones to the household doesn't make the five-Mac option more useful.
Intego Antivirus for Windows is sold separately, there's no supported Android antivirus product, and iOS doesn't permit conventional system-wide antivirus scanning. Mixed-device households should compare a cross-platform suite in our Mac antivirus guide rather than assuming the larger Intego number covers everything with a screen.
Tax, currency and payment processor change the final total
The support table uses US dollars before applicable tax. Checkout can localize currency, apply VAT or sales tax and expose a campaign tied to the landing path. A monthly equivalent is only division of an upfront annual or two-year charge; it doesn't turn the subscription into month-to-month billing.
Intego's terms say purchases and refunds may be handled through multiple payment companies, and current support documents name FastSpring and 2Checkout in legacy/current billing flows. The newest ONE checkout can use another disclosed reseller or processor. Record the merchant descriptor, account email, invoice and exact future-renewal sentence before closing the page, because those details determine where a billing question goes.
Intego auto-renewal: timing and amount
Intego says subscriptions are set to renew automatically by default. Its current auto-renewal guide says an email should arrive 7–10 days before the renewal date with the expected amount and cancellation information. The charge is made before protection expires, so waiting for the last day printed in the app is risky.
The subscription terms allow fees to change with reasonable advance notice and say the new price takes effect on renewal rather than altering the already-paid term. Put a reminder at least two weeks before the account date, verify the tier, term and Mac count, and compare the displayed future amount with the value you received.
Cancellation stops the future charge; it doesn't erase the current term
Intego's cancellation instructions separate two outcomes. Turning off renewal prevents the next billing cycle, while the existing subscription remains active until its expiration date. It doesn't automatically refund a charge that has already been processed.
For a direct account, open the subscription and billing area, choose Cancel Subscription, complete the second confirmation and wait for the email. A renewal message from FastSpring or 2Checkout can expose its own management link. Save both the onscreen state and confirmation email; uninstalling the Mac app isn't a billing action and can't replace this process.
The 30-day refund is a separate request
Intego's published refund policy offers a 30-day money-back guarantee for eligible software purchased or renewed directly from the website. The customer must contact support within 30 days of the purchase or renewal. Intego says qualifying refunds are processed within 14 days and that the software must be deleted and uninstalled once the refund is processed.
Third-party sellers and business accounts can have different terms, so identify the merchant before submitting anything. Include the account email, invoice/order data, charge date and reason, but don't paste a serial number into a public forum or social post. If the charge is recent, request the refund and disable future renewal as two explicit actions, then retain both confirmations.
Intego ONE and X9 use different billing logic
ONE is the current unified product with Essential, Advanced and Complete tiers. X9 refers to the older family of separate utilities and bundles, including VirusBarrier, NetBarrier, Washing Machine, ContentBarrier and Personal Backup. Existing customers can still need X9 billing help, but the 18-price ONE matrix shouldn't be applied to a legacy serial-number subscription.
Intego's renewal guide says X9 pricing depends on the package and subscription history rather than a ONE plan/term selector. It uses $49.99 for one Mac and one year of Mac Internet Security X9 as an example, not as a universal X9 quote. Sign in to the matching account view, confirm the exact product generation and never “upgrade” based only on a familiar product name.
Save these six details before you subscribe
- Tier: Essential, Advanced or Complete, with the exact modules you expect.
- Term: one or two years, paid upfront rather than monthly.
- Mac count: one, three or five supported Macs—not mixed-device seats.
- Total today: currency, tax and campaign after every checkout step.
- Future charge: exact amount, cadence and date from the renewal sentence.
- Merchant and evidence: account email, invoice, processor and screenshots stored privately.
Reopen the account after purchase and verify that the plan matches the receipt. A clean evidence folder takes two minutes now and saves hours if an annual or two-year renewal later looks unfamiliar.
Which Intego plan should you buy?
Essential, one year
Best for a first Intego purchase. You get the antivirus and firewall, keep the initial commitment short and can judge prompts, scans and compatibility before a larger prepayment.
Essential, two years
Best long-term security-only value after the product has already proved itself. One Mac costs $74.99 initially versus $89.98 for one introductory annual term plus one standard renewal.
Advanced
Choose it only when SmartClean will replace a cleanup tool or a recurring manual routine. It isn't a detection upgrade, so don't pay the difference for a stronger-sounding tier name.
Complete
Choose it when Intego VPN is the VPN you'd buy independently. Budget the published renewal at the point of sale; Complete's two-year renewal increase is the largest in the official matrix.
Three or five Macs
Count the actual supported Macs before increasing seats. The per-Mac cost improves, but spare capacity can't activate the separate Windows product or an Android antivirus.
Existing X9 customer
Don't use the ONE table to predict a legacy renewal. Check the X9 package, serial/account view and future amount first, then decide whether migration to ONE solves a real product need.
Our editorial default is Essential: one year for a first purchase, two years for someone who has already tested the product and wants the lower annualized price. Advanced and Complete are utility decisions. If SmartClean or VPN would sit unused, the higher tier turns a simple Mac security subscription into renewal drag.
Intego pricing and renewal FAQ
How much does Intego cost in 2026?
In the official US Intego ONE table checked August 6, 2026, one-year introductory prices start at $39.99 for Essential, $69.99 for Advanced and $89.99 for Complete on one Mac. Two-year introductory prices start at $74.99, $129.99 and $149.99. Mac count, tax, currency and a checkout-specific campaign can change the order total.
How much does Intego cost after the first term?
Intego says ONE renews at the original MSRP for the selected tier, term and Mac count, plus applicable tax. The support table lists one-Mac standard renewal at $49.99 yearly for Essential, $84.99 for Advanced and $134.99 for Complete. Your account and checkout disclosure are the final source because a campaign or later price change can produce a different contracted amount.
Is Intego ONE cheaper for one year or two years?
The two-year term costs more upfront but is cheaper than buying the first year and then one standard annual renewal in every official configuration we modeled. The saving ranges from $14.99 for Essential on one Mac to $96.99 for Complete on five Macs. It also commits the full payment for two years, so use the one-year plan if you still need to test fit.
Which Intego ONE plan is best for most people?
Essential is the clean default because it includes the two security modules: real-time antivirus and the per-application firewall. Advanced is worthwhile only when SmartClean replaces a cleanup tool you'd otherwise buy. Complete makes sense when you'll use the VPN and accept its much higher published renewal, especially on two-year terms.
Does Intego renew automatically?
Yes. Intego says subscriptions are set to renew automatically by default. A renewal email should arrive 7–10 days before the renewal date with the expected amount and cancellation information, while the account shows the upcoming date and charge. Save the checkout disclosure and check the account before that date.
How do I turn off Intego auto-renewal?
Sign in to the Intego account, open the subscription and billing area, choose Cancel Subscription or turn off future renewal, complete the confirmation dialog and save the confirmation email. FastSpring or 2Checkout orders can also expose cancellation through the processor link in the renewal email. Turning renewal off normally keeps the paid term active until expiry.
Does cancelling Intego give me a refund?
No. Intego explicitly separates cancellation from a refund: cancellation stops the next renewal but doesn't reverse a charge already processed. For an eligible direct purchase or renewal, submit a separate support request within the published 30-day money-back window. Third-party sellers and business software can use different terms.
Can I get a refund for an accidental Intego renewal?
Intego's published policy covers eligible software purchased or renewed directly through its website when support is contacted within 30 days of the charge. The company says qualifying refunds are processed within 14 days and require removal of the software after the refund. Include the account email, invoice and renewal details, but never post a serial number publicly.
Are Intego ONE and Intego X9 renewal prices the same?
No. ONE pricing is tied to Essential, Advanced or Complete, a one- or two-year term and one, three or five Macs. Intego says X9 renewal depends on the legacy package and subscription history; it gives $49.99 for a current one-Mac Mac Internet Security X9 renewal only as an example. Check the exact product and amount in the relevant account view.
Does an Intego Mac license cover Windows, iPhone or Android?
No mixed-device coverage should be assumed. Intego ONE seats are for supported Macs, while Intego Antivirus for Windows is a separate product and license. Intego has no supported Android antivirus product, and iPhone protection can't work like full Mac antivirus because iOS restricts system-wide scanning.
Bottom line: buy Essential and make renewal deliberate
Intego ONE pricing is manageable once four facts stay together: tier, term, Mac count and the future charge. Essential is the honest value tier because it includes antivirus and firewall without asking cleanup or VPN to justify the bill. The two-year term produces a real saving in every published configuration, but only after product fit is known.
The public table is a comparison baseline, not your contract. A campaign checkout can quote a different renewal, tax and currency can change the total, and X9 follows its own legacy logic. Save the order-specific disclosure, review the account before the 7–10-day notice window, and remember that cancellation and a refund are two separate requests.
