VIPRE Plans and Pricing: What You Pay After Year One

VIPRE prices and device limits in 2026

We checked VIPRE's US home-security comparison on August 4, 2026. Each card paired a discounted one-year charge with a crossed-out or secondary regular price. Those figures are a dated planning snapshot, not a promise that every customer, country or future renewal will see the same amount.

The comparison below uses the price repeated across the main catalog and the Advanced and Ultimate pages. One Antivirus Plus landing page simultaneously showed $60.49 as the Advanced regular price while the main catalog and other product pages showed $60.15. We use $60.15 because it's the consistent catalog value, but the inconsistency is exactly why the final checkout and renewal notice must win over a review table.

We don't attach Offer schema to these figures. VIPRE can change a promotion without changing this static page, and Google shouldn't receive an apparently live price that we can't guarantee at checkout. The Article and ItemList schema describe the comparison; the body carries the timestamp and caveats a human buyer needs.

The regular price changes the ranking

The first-year cards make all three plans look close. Antivirus Plus to Advanced costs another $5, and Advanced to Ultimate another $20. At the displayed regular rate, those jumps become $21.66 and $93.84. A decision made from the acquisition row alone can therefore become a very different budget in year two.

Antivirus Plus rises from $14.99 to $38.49, or by $23.50. Its regular price is about 2.57 times the first-year charge. Advanced rises from $19.99 to $60.15, or by $40.16, making the regular rate about 3.01 times the entry price. Ultimate rises from $39.99 to $153.99, a $114 increase and roughly 3.85 times the first-year amount.

The percentage is useful as a warning, not as the whole verdict. A low-cost one-PC plan can remain affordable after a large percentage increase, while a five-device bundle can still be good value if all five licenses and both companion services replace purchases the household would otherwise make. Translate the subscription into devices and jobs before reacting to the multiplier.

Three-year planning exposes the promotional effect

If today's displayed regular rate stayed unchanged for years two and three, the illustrative three-year totals would be $91.97 for Antivirus Plus, $140.29 for Advanced and $347.97 for Ultimate. Those aren't guaranteed bills; they're a consistent way to compare a promotional first year with two years at the current regular reference.

This model deliberately excludes tax and assumes no negotiated, loyalty or replacement-key discount. Its job isn't to predict the card statement to the cent. It prevents a $39.99 bundle from being compared with a competitor's full renewal year as though both numbers represented the same contract stage. Three plans, two desktop platforms and separate Android security

VIPRE's plan names obscure the most important boundary. Antivirus Plus is currently a one-Windows-device product. Advanced is a one-computer entitlement that can cover Windows or Mac. Ultimate expands the desktop entitlement to five Windows or Mac devices and bundles Privacy Shield and Internet Shield VPN. The word “Ultimate” doesn't turn those five slots into a universal mobile security license.

The current catalog separately lists VIPRE Android Security. It doesn't present an equivalent consumer iPhone or iPad antivirus product beside it. That doesn't mean an iPhone needs a Windows-style scanner; it means a buyer shouldn't count an iPhone, iPad or Android phone as an Ultimate antivirus slot without explicit checkout entitlement.

Antivirus Plus: the clean one-PC choice

Antivirus Plus is the straightforward purchase when one Windows PC is the whole job. The current $14.99 first-year charge is the lowest entry point, and $38.49 is still the least expensive displayed regular rate. A buyer doesn't pay for Mac flexibility, spare licenses or privacy companion apps that may never be opened.

The plan stops being clean when a second computer appears. Two separate Antivirus Plus subscriptions would carry two receipts, two keys and potentially two renewal relationships. A Mac also rules it out under the current scope. Count the devices expected during the subscription term, not only the laptop in front of you at checkout.

Advanced Security: one Windows or Mac computer

Advanced Security costs only $5 more than Plus in year one, but its current regular-price premium is $21.66. The decisive benefit for many readers isn't a feature badge: it's the ability to cover one Mac instead of only one Windows device.

VIPRE lists third-party patching, phishing and spam email protection, a firewall and advanced behavioral analysis as Windows-compatible only. A Mac buyer can use the antivirus entitlement but shouldn't value the plan as though every Windows module were present. On one Windows PC, Advanced is worth the higher rate only if those Windows-only controls solve a real need. The firewall can help control network connections; patching can reduce exposure from outdated third-party applications; email tools have narrower value if the household lives in webmail rather than a supported desktop client. The independent VIPRE review covers protection quality so price doesn't substitute for a security verdict.

Ultimate Security: five desktops and two companion apps

Ultimate Security is best understood as a bundle. It includes Advanced Security for up to five Windows or Mac devices, plus Privacy Shield and Internet Shield VPN. Those companion products handle different jobs; they don't demonstrate a stronger malware engine.

Privacy Shield is a Windows-focused privacy application that audits sensitive information and provides controls such as browsing-track cleaning and webcam or microphone blocking. Internet Shield is a VPN with its own application and connection behavior. A household should value each component independently, including its platform support, installation work and overlap with tools already paid for.

The first-year bundle is aggressive at $39.99, only one cent more than two $19.99 Advanced subscriptions. The regular $153.99 rate is a different proposition. It becomes defensible when three to five desktop licenses are active or when the separate privacy and VPN services replace subscriptions the household would otherwise keep. It's expensive when one laptop is the only protected machine.

Ultimate becomes cheaper at three desktop devices

At the current regular prices, one Advanced license costs $60.15 and two cost $120.30, still below Ultimate's $153.99. Three separate Advanced subscriptions would cost $180.45, making Ultimate $26.46 cheaper while consolidating the household under one five-device bundle. At the first-year rate, two Advanced purchases total $39.98, effectively tied with Ultimate's $39.99, while three cost $59.97.

That arithmetic sets a useful threshold but not an automatic recommendation. Separate Advanced keys can create more renewal and support work; Ultimate can create unused companion apps and a larger year-two bill. For two desktop computers, Advanced remains cheaper at the current regular reference unless Privacy Shield and Internet Shield VPN have genuine standalone value. For three to five, Ultimate is the cleaner plan shape.

“Windows or Mac” doesn't mean identical features

VIPRE is unusually explicit on its current plan cards: patching, phishing and spam email protection, firewall and advanced behavioral analysis carry Windows-compatible-only labels. Ultimate adds more Windows-only privacy functions through Privacy Shield. A mixed household may therefore receive the same license count but not the same practical product on every computer.

Write down the job each device needs. A Windows desktop used for downloaded files may benefit from the fuller suite. A Mac laptop may need core malware and web protection but can't use a Windows firewall module. A work-managed computer may not permit either product. Five nominal slots aren't five equal units of value.

Android Security is a separate purchase decision

VIPRE's Android page advertises a separate mobile security product, and the main home catalog links to it outside the three desktop plan cards. We didn't find a stable current price in the page text that matched the same plan comparison, so this guide doesn't invent one or fold it into the Ultimate total. The live Android checkout is the only safe source for that transaction.

Android antivirus can scan apps and files in ways iOS doesn't permit. On iPhone and iPad, useful security products tend to focus on web protection, account monitoring, scam filtering or VPN functions rather than a Windows-style system scanner. The current VIPRE US catalog doesn't list an equivalent iOS antivirus product, so use our Android and iPhone security guides rather than treating all mobile icons as interchangeable.

This boundary also prevents a misleading cost-per-device calculation. Ultimate's regular price divided by five is $30.80 per published Windows/Mac slot if all five are used. Adding a separately purchased Android product changes both the numerator and the product relationship; it isn't a sixth included Ultimate installation.

How VIPRE automatic renewal works

VIPRE's official cancellation instructions distinguish auto-renewing and non-renewing subscriptions. For an auto-renewing direct subscription, VIPRE points to a Manage your VIPRE subscription link in the original purchase receipt or in a renewal notice sent seven days before renewal.

Seven days is a short review window. Save the receipt at purchase, record the plan, seller, masked product key, expiration date and current renewal basis, then create a reminder at least 30 days before the expected renewal. The official notice is a last checkpoint, not a good household budget system.

A non-renewing subscription needs no cancellation action and expires at the end of its paid term. That status should still be verified from the receipt or subscription controls. A missing email isn't proof that billing is off; messages can land in spam, go to an old address or belong to a different purchaser in the household.

Cancel from the receipt, not by uninstalling the app

For a direct purchase, start with the subscription-management link in the original receipt or VIPRE renewal notice. If the email can't be found, the official cancellation article points customers to VIPRE's Purchase Lookup route so the purchase information can be resent. Use the official vipre.com or vipre.zendesk.com path rather than a phone number copied from a search result.

After changing the setting, save the confirmation page and email. It should identify the subscription and show that another annual term won't be purchased. Recheck after a day and again before the expected charge. If more than one product key, email address or card descriptor exists, inventory every subscription instead of assuming one cancellation covered them all.

Uninstalling only removes software from a device. It doesn't communicate a billing decision to the merchant. Likewise, canceling future renewal normally doesn't erase the already paid license immediately. Keep protection installed until the paid term ends or a replacement is ready, unless support tells you a refund will deactivate the key sooner.

Cancellation and refund are separate outcomes

The same VIPRE support article says all users have 30 days to request a full refund without question. Requests made outside 30 days from the purchase date are reviewed case by case. We treat that statement as the current direct VIPRE home-support rule; a retailer or app marketplace can own a different transaction and apply its own process.

Turning off future renewal doesn't itself request money back from a completed charge. Requesting a refund doesn't necessarily prove another subscription or old key has auto-renew disabled. When both results are needed, complete both workflows, record the case number and keep the cancellation confirmation until the refund appears on the original payment method.

The 30-day wording also makes the date important. Save the order receipt and card statement rather than relying on an installation date. A product can be installed days after purchase, and the support policy is written around the purchase date. If the payment went through a reseller, start with the merchant named on the receipt and card descriptor.

A new product key isn't proof the old subscription ended

VIPRE's registration guide explains that a newly purchased key can be entered manually from the Account tab when an installed subscription shows expired or when a customer bought a new key while trying to renew. The application should then display the new expiration date.

That process activates protection; it doesn't document the billing state of a previous order. A discount code from another seller can coexist with an older direct subscription unless the original renewal relationship is separately disabled. Keep a simple inventory: product name, masked 25-character key, seller, account email, expiration date, auto-renew state and last four digits of the payment method.

If the app still shows Trial or Expired, don't buy repeatedly. VIPRE's support material says to verify the key, use Refresh and confirm the correct product is installed. A Plus key and an Advanced installer aren't interchangeable merely because both say VIPRE. Troubleshooting the entitlement is safer than accidentally creating a stack of annual contracts.

The receipt identifies who controls billing

The vendor website, the installed application and the transaction seller can be different entities. Start every cancellation or refund by reading the receipt and card descriptor. A direct VIPRE order can use the VIPRE management link; a retailer, marketplace or bundled purchase may require the seller's account and policy.

Don't send payment details to a support address discovered only in a search snippet, document-sharing site or social post. Searches for VIPRE renewal and refunds currently surface spam pages that imitate support listings and publish unrelated phone numbers. Open the official site manually, follow its support navigation and verify the domain before sharing a key or allowing remote access.

A legitimate support agent may need order information, but the useful evidence can be masked: order date, product, last four characters of the key and last four payment digits. Never publish the full product key in a forum or screenshot. It's both a license credential and a clue scammers can use to make a fake support conversation sound convincing.

The checkout audit that prevents a renewal surprise

Before paying, capture the full cart rather than only the promotional card. The evidence should show country and currency, exact product name, supported platforms, device count, term, charge now, regular or renewal basis, tax, seller, auto-renew state and refund link. Save the receipt as a PDF or email file after purchase.

• Count Windows and Mac computers. Don't count Android or iPhone devices as Ultimate antivirus slots without explicit entitlement.
• Price the regular year. Compare $38.49, $60.15 and $153.99 before choosing from $14.99, $19.99 and $39.99.
• Value Windows-only features honestly. Firewall, patching and email tools don't all transfer to Mac.
• Value companion apps separately. Privacy Shield and Internet Shield VPN solve different jobs and can duplicate existing subscriptions.
• Name the seller. The receipt determines cancellation, refund and purchase-lookup routes.
• Set reminders. Review fit before the 30-day refund period ends and again well before the seven-day renewal notice.

After activation, open the application and confirm the correct plan and expiration date. A cheap key that activates the wrong product isn't a bargain. A correct key with a forgotten old renewal is also not a bargain. The purchase is complete only when the software entitlement and billing record agree.

Which VIPRE plan should you buy?

Choose Antivirus Plus for one Windows PC when core protection and the lowest recurring cost are the priority. Choose Advanced for one Mac, or for one Windows PC where its Windows-only firewall, patching and email tools are worth the $60.15 current regular rate. Choose Ultimate for three to five Windows/Mac computers or when its privacy and VPN apps replace products you'd otherwise pay for.

For two desktop computers, the price call is close in year one and favors two Advanced licenses at the current regular rate. Ultimate becomes cheaper than three separate Advanced renewals, but its $153.99 reference deserves an annual review. A household that stops using the VPN or drops to one computer shouldn't keep renewing a five-device bundle out of habit.

Price is the contract verdict, not the protection verdict. VIPRE's current independent test picture is mixed enough that the full VIPRE review should come before checkout.
