Emsisoft Pricing: Plans, Renewal and Refunds
Emsisoft Home doesn't use a Basic–Premium–Ultimate ladder. You choose one, three or five devices and prepay one, two or three years. That simplicity helps, but three details still deserve a careful read: currency is localized, the Mac promise conflicts with the wording in the price selector, and today's total isn't proof of every account's future renewal charge.

Quick answer: our European session showed €39.95 for one device/year, €59.95 for three and €79.95 for five. Prepaying two years reduced those totals to €70.38, €105.58 and €140.78; three years cost €95.98, €143.98 and €191.98. The lowest unit cost is five devices for three years, about €12.80 per device/year. We still recommend one year for a first purchase: the longer deal saves money only if the product, platforms and support remain a fit for the whole term.
Emsisoft prices in 2026: the full Home matrix
We pulled the values from the official pricing page's server-rendered configuration on August 7. The session localized the store to euros and exposed one-, two- and three-year totals for one, three and five Home devices. Third-party reviews often show the same numbers with a dollar sign, but that doesn't authorize us to promise US currency, tax or checkout treatment to every visitor.
| Term | 1 device | 3 devices | 5 devices |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 year | €39.95 | €59.95 | €79.95 |
| 2 years | €70.38 | €105.58 | €140.78 |
| 3 years | €95.98 | €143.98 | €191.98 |
The live Emsisoft pricing page calls Home one product rather than three feature tiers. A buyer selects the computer count and commitment; malware scanning, real-time layers and management don't disappear from the one-device option. That makes the table easier to compare than suites that hide core protection behind plan names.
It's still a dated comparison, not a universal offer. Location, tax, reseller route, campaign and account history can change the final cart. We intentionally omit Offer schema: turning a localized observation into a machine-readable fixed sale price would age badly and could mislead searchers long after the store changes.
What the longer terms actually save
The two-year totals are 12% below buying the current one-year price twice. The three-year totals are about 20% below buying it three times. Emsisoft's matrix applies that term discount consistently across one, three and five devices, so the decision is mainly whether the lower annualized cost compensates for a longer period in which platforms, features and evidence can change.
| Configuration | Total prepaid | Annualized | Per device/year |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 device · 1 year | €39.95 | €39.95 | €39.95 |
| 3 devices · 1 year | €59.95 | €59.95 | €19.98 |
| 5 devices · 1 year | €79.95 | €79.95 | €15.99 |
| 1 device · 2 years | €70.38 | €35.19 | €35.19 |
| 3 devices · 2 years | €105.58 | €52.79 | €17.60 |
| 5 devices · 2 years | €140.78 | €70.39 | €14.08 |
| 1 device · 3 years | €95.98 | €31.99 | €31.99 |
| 3 devices · 3 years | €143.98 | €47.99 | €16.00 |
| 5 devices · 3 years | €191.98 | €63.99 | €12.80 |
The five-device three-year card is the mathematical winner, but unit cost isn't value when seats stay unused. A three-computer household pays only €20 more than one device for a one-year term; the five-device option costs another €20. Count the Windows PCs and eligible Macs that will be protected during the whole term, not the phones and tablets that can merely access the cloud console.
For a new customer, the one-year plan is our default. A three-year commitment is sensible only after the product has survived a full trial, normal daily use, at least one major OS update and a support interaction. Saving €23.87 on one device over three years is modest compensation if the Mac app, lab coverage or household device mix changes.
Home has one feature set, not three consumer tiers
The current price comparison lists Anti-Malware Home, Business Security and Enterprise Security + EDR. Those are different audiences, not a consumer upsell ladder. Home covers one to five household computers; the business editions add policy, reporting, deployment, server and response capabilities that a family shouldn't buy merely because the names sound more advanced.
Within Home, one-, two- and three-year choices use the same core product. The official Home page lists real-time File Guard, Behavior Blocker, Web Protection, anti-ransomware and MyEmsisoft management. The price grid also names scanning, quarantine, exclusions, scheduled scans, hourly updates, command-line access and Emergency Kit Maker.
This structure removes a common pricing trap: a one-device buyer isn't pushed into a higher tier to unlock ransomware protection. The trade-off is narrower extras. Home doesn't become a VPN, password manager, cloud backup or identity-restoration bundle just because five seats or three years are selected. Our full Emsisoft review handles the protection evidence and suite scope; this guide keeps the product job separate from the bill.
The Emsisoft trial lasts 30 days—but read the sign-up you see
Emsisoft's current Home page links a free 30-day trial. That's enough time to verify installation, updates, File Guard, Behavior Blocker, web blocking, scanning, quarantine, performance and MyEmsisoft management on the exact computers you intend to license. It isn't enough to prove what a future major OS release or renewal cycle will look like.
Older TechRadar copy says no credit card was required. We didn't carry that sentence forward because the current public product page doesn't state a universal no-card rule. Start through the official trial button and inspect the form in your own session. If it asks for payment details or displays a conversion date, save that state before submitting; if it does not, there's no reason to invent a billing risk.
A useful trial has a checklist. Confirm Windows Security recognizes the installed product, updates succeed, a scan completes, normal work remains responsive, expected websites load, a quarantined test item can be reviewed, and account controls are understandable. Mac users should also verify current permissions and feature parity because the product is newer there and the pricing wording is inconsistent.
Emsisoft Emergency Kit is free; Home is the real-time subscription
Search results often blur “free Emsisoft” into one product. Emsisoft Emergency Kit is a portable Windows scanner that's free for private on-demand use. It can scan and quarantine when launched, but it has no continuous File Guard, Behavior Blocker or web protection. It's useful for a second opinion or cleanup, not a permanent equivalent to Home.
Anti-Malware Home is the installed subscription with real-time protection. Its price grid includes Emergency Kit Maker, which lets a paid Home user create a portable scanner for family or friends. That inclusion doesn't convert the standalone private-use kit into a paid real-time product, and it doesn't authorize commercial technician work under the private-use terms.
| Question | Anti-Malware Home | Emergency Kit |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Paid after 30-day trial | Free for private on-demand use |
| Real-time protection | Yes | No |
| Normal role | Primary household antivirus | Portable second opinion / cleanup |
| Platform | Windows; current Home page also lists macOS | Windows portable scanner |
| Commercial use | Use the appropriate paid plan | Requires the appropriate commercial license |
If the only job is an occasional scan, start with the Kit and keep an existing primary antivirus active. If the job is continuous ransomware and phishing defense, compare Home with the current Windows 11 antivirus field. Price comparisons make sense only after that role is fixed.
What the Home price includes—and what it leaves out
Home's paid value is focused protection rather than a lifestyle bundle. The current list includes dual-engine detection, PUP handling, advanced cleaning, quarantine, exclusions, scheduled scans, Windows Explorer integration, command-line access, Emergency Kit Maker, File Guard, Web Protection, anti-phishing, Browser Security, Behavior Blocker, anti-ransomware, automatic updates and simplified cloud management.
Email and live-chat support are included. The pricing page also lists a money-back guarantee, malware-removal assistance, latest-version access and a technology guarantee: major product updates arrive without a separate upgrade fee while the subscription remains active. That matters during a multi-year term because a prepaid customer shouldn't have to repurchase the next major release.
Home doesn't include the business edition's centralized deployment, policy depth, server coverage, advanced reporting, device isolation or EDR investigation. It also doesn't bundle a consumer VPN, password vault or cloud backup. A household that already owns those tools may appreciate the narrow scope; someone who wants one bill for identity, backup and privacy extras should compare broader suites through the site's antivirus comparison directory.
The Mac support message conflicts with the price selector
The Home product page, rechecked August 7, lists Windows 10 64-bit or later and macOS 11 or later on Intel and Apple silicon. It names Windows build 2026.1.0.12700 and Mac build 2026.2.0.785. That's direct evidence that Emsisoft currently markets Home for both desktop platforms.
The official pricing page is less aligned. Its Home copy says “Protect 1–5 PCs,” and the selector labels the choice “Windows PCs.” This may be stale storefront wording rather than a real licensing exclusion, but an editorial guide shouldn't silently resolve a vendor contradiction. Mac buyers should start the trial on the intended Mac and confirm with Emsisoft that the selected Home seat and checkout are valid for macOS before prepaying multiple years.
The MyEmsisoft console can be reached through a browser or mobile app, but remote management from Android or iOS isn't the same as installing Home protection on a phone. Count protected endpoints, not management screens. For a Mac-first purchase, compare maturity and current evidence against the site's Mac antivirus guide before optimizing the term discount.
Emsisoft auto-renewal: the cadence is clear, the future amount is account-specific
The pricing FAQ says the online payment provider checks the saved payment details and automatically renews when the license period ends. The selector describes billing every year, every two years or every three years. The terms say a recurring subscription renews at the then-current fee until canceled, so the current public total shouldn't be presented as a lifetime renewal guarantee.
Some antivirus vendors advertise a deep first-year discount and a published list-price renewal. Emsisoft's public matrix is flatter: the term discount comes from prepaying more years. Even so, checkout currency, tax, regional pricing and later fee changes remain possible. A dated table on this site can't prove the exact future debit attached to an existing account.
| Evidence | What it proves | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Final checkout and receipt | Selected term, seats, currency, tax, merchant and disclosed recurring state | Save immediately |
| MyEmsisoft workspace | Current license, expiry/renewal state, seats and available account actions | Check after purchase |
| Renewal or price-change notice | The upcoming amount communicated for your subscription | Review before deadline |
| Public pricing page | Today's new-order configuration in the visitor's region | Market comparison only |
| Third-party review | A dated observation, often with unknown locale | Never primary billing evidence |
Record the next decision date when you buy, not when the card alert arrives. If the future amount isn't clear in the receipt or workspace, ask support in writing while the order is recent. Our renewal-price report uses the same rule across vendors: first payment and renewal transparency are separate scoring fields.
How to cancel Emsisoft auto-renewal without losing the paid term
The current Emsisoft cancellation guide routes annual subscribers through MyEmsisoft. Sign in, open the correct workspace, choose Settings and find the cancellation control in the license area. Emsisoft also says support can turn renewal off on the customer's behalf during the paid license year.
- Identify the subscription. Match the workspace, device count, term and account email to the receipt.
- Record the current state. Capture the active auto-renew setting and expiry or next billing date.
- Turn renewal off. Use the workspace control or send a support request from the account email.
- Keep confirmation. Save the changed screen and email; protection remains active through the paid expiry date.
- Check again. Reopen the workspace before the former billing date and confirm no recurring action was restored.
Turning renewal off isn't an uninstall instruction. The software can continue protecting the licensed computers until expiry, and a later manual renewal remains possible. Removing a device, uninstalling the app or deleting an account should never replace a clearly documented billing cancellation.
Emsisoft refunds: initial purchase, unused time and unwanted renewal
The current Emsisoft terms allow a new subscription to be canceled within 30 days of the initial transaction for a full refund. After that window, cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period; access continues until then, and the terms say unused service isn't refunded.
The current pricing FAQ goes further in plain language: it says unwanted transactions reported within 30 days receive a full refund. That wording is useful for an unexpected auto-renewal, but the safest response is immediate. Save the receipt and account state, disable any next renewal, and ask billing to classify and reverse the unwanted charge rather than assuming cancellation alone creates a refund.
| Situation | Expected route | Likely outcome under published wording |
|---|---|---|
| New direct subscription, within 30 days | Cancel and request refund | Full refund stated in terms |
| Unwanted renewal, reported within 30 days | Turn off future renewal and request refund separately | Pricing FAQ promises full refund for unwanted transaction |
| Cancellation after 30 days | Disable future renewal | Service continues to term end; no unused-time refund stated |
| Reseller or different merchant | Use seller/order route shown on receipt | Seller process and local law may apply |
This is a practical reading of the vendor's published policy, not legal advice. Consumer rights may add protections in a buyer's jurisdiction. Keep the order identifier, charge date, amount, currency, account email and a short statement that you want both the current transaction reviewed and future auto-renewal disabled.
Adding seats can reset the Emsisoft billing date
Emsisoft lets customers add seats or change plans through Workspace Settings. The official upgrade guide says checkout credits the unused time on the current subscription. The new one-, two- or three-year subscription begins when the upgrade payment is made, which becomes the new billing and renewal date.
That detail is easy to miss. Adding two computers six months into a one-year term isn't necessarily a small side charge that leaves the old anniversary untouched. Review the pro-rated credit, new total, seat count, term and new date in the upgrade cart before approving payment.
The help route also allows a plan change, not only seat growth. Downgrading may reduce capacity and the terms say Emsisoft credits upgrades or downgrades pro rata within the current billing cycle, while already rendered service isn't refunded. Save both the old and new license states so support can reconstruct the transaction if the device count or expiry looks wrong.
Who processes the payment—and how manual renewal works
The current pricing page says order processing is handled by 2Checkout and that Emsisoft doesn't store credit-card data. The payment-details help page also mentions 2Checkout/Verifone or Cleverbridge, which means an older or region-specific account may route through the provider named in its confirmation email. Use the receipt's merchant and support route rather than guessing from a bank descriptor.
When auto-renewal is off, the manual renewal guide sends the account owner to the workspace's Settings and Renew Now control. That cart can adjust seats and duration before payment. A reseller license key may instead use Emsisoft's renewal page or the reseller's process.
Payment-data changes follow the same evidence rule. Open Workspace Settings, find the license section and use Update payment info. Don't submit card details to an unexpected renewal email, popup or search-ad phone number. Start from a manually typed Emsisoft domain or the signed-in account and match the merchant to the original order.
A safer Emsisoft subscription workflow
The pricing decision becomes manageable when the stages stay separate. Trial the exact app, approve a dated checkout, verify the account, then decide about renewal before the deadline. A refund addresses a completed payment; it isn't the same action as turning future renewal off.

- Trial: test all intended Windows PCs and Macs, confirm performance, protection status and account controls.
- Checkout: capture currency, tax, total, term, seats, merchant, recurring state and refund wording.
- Account: match the workspace license to the receipt and record its expiry or next billing date.
- Renewal decision: review product fit and the communicated future amount before the cancellation deadline.
- Exit if needed: disable renewal, request any eligible refund separately, preserve both confirmations and only then uninstall.
Community discussions about antivirus pricing repeatedly land on the same practical advice: use the trial and reassess before renewal. A recent r/antivirus Emsisoft discussion is positive about the product's behavior and management, but it doesn't prove value for every device mix. We use that sentiment as a reason to test the real workflow, not as a substitute for the buyer's own billing evidence.
Which Emsisoft term and device count are worth it?
One device, one year
The clean default for a first-time buyer. It limits prepaid exposure to €39.95 in our dated European session and leaves a natural annual checkpoint for Mac maturity, lab participation and household needs.
Three devices, one year
The strongest small-household shape. €59.95 is only €20 above the one-device card and cuts the dated unit cost to €19.98 per computer. Buy it only when two or three eligible machines will be active.
Five devices, three years
The lowest unit math: about €12.80 per device/year. It's appropriate for a stable five-computer household that has already tested Home. It's a poor bargain when seats or platform support are uncertain.
No Home subscription yet
Best when the task is an occasional second-opinion scan, the product-page/store platform conflict is unresolved, or a current suite already covers real-time protection. Use Emergency Kit privately on demand or compare free antivirus options.
Our recommendation is deliberately conservative: start with one year, then earn the term discount through experience. Three devices is the best price jump for a real multi-computer household. Five devices and three years win only on arithmetic; they shouldn't win over uncertainty about Mac entitlement, unused seats or a product category that may change before 2029.
Emsisoft's pricing is cleaner than the first-year-discount shock used by many larger suites. That's a genuine strength. The remaining work belongs to the buyer: verify the final localized cart, keep the receipt, confirm MyEmsisoft, and make the renewal decision while cancellation and refund options are still easy to exercise.
Emsisoft pricing, renewal and refund FAQ
How much does Emsisoft Anti-Malware Home cost in 2026?
In the official European pricing configuration checked August 7, 2026, one year cost €39.95 for one device, €59.95 for three and €79.95 for five. Two-year totals were €70.38, €105.58 and €140.78; three-year totals were €95.98, €143.98 and €191.98. Currency, tax and regional checkout can change the amount, so verify your own final order.
Is Emsisoft free?
Emsisoft Anti-Malware Home isn't a permanent free real-time antivirus. Its current product page offers a free 30-day trial. Emsisoft Emergency Kit is free for private on-demand scanning, but it has no continuous protection and is a different product.
Does the Emsisoft trial require a credit card?
The current official Home page promises a free 30-day trial, but the public page we checked doesn't state a universal no-card rule. Start from the official trial link and inspect the sign-up form before submitting anything. If payment details are requested, record the conversion and renewal terms; don't rely on an old third-party review.
Does Emsisoft renew automatically?
Yes, paid subscriptions can auto-renew. Emsisoft says its payment provider verifies the saved payment details and renews when the selected license period ends. The public selector offers one-, two- and three-year billing cadences; the exact next date, currency and amount must be confirmed in checkout, the receipt and MyEmsisoft.
What is the Emsisoft renewal price?
Emsisoft publishes the current new-order matrix and says renewal occurs at the then-current fee, but a public page can't prove the future amount attached to every regional account. Use the renewal amount in your receipt, MyEmsisoft and any advance notice. This guide doesn't invent a universal year-two price.
How do I turn off Emsisoft auto-renewal?
Sign in to MyEmsisoft, open the correct workspace, choose Settings and use the cancellation option in the license section. Emsisoft also accepts a support request during the paid license year. Save the changed account state and confirmation; protection continues until the expiry date.
Can I get a refund from Emsisoft?
Emsisoft's terms allow a new subscription to be canceled within 30 days of the initial transaction for a full refund. Its pricing page also promises a full refund for unwanted transactions reported within 30 days. After that, cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period without a refund for unused service.
Does uninstalling Emsisoft cancel the subscription?
No. Uninstalling removes software from a device; it doesn't prove auto-renewal is off. Cancel in MyEmsisoft or through support, save confirmation, submit any eligible refund request separately and then uninstall if you no longer want the app.
Can I add devices to an Emsisoft subscription later?
Yes. Emsisoft's current help route sends you to Workspace Settings, where you can change the total seats or plan. Checkout credits unused time on the existing subscription, and the upgraded one-, two- or three-year term starts when payment is made, creating a new renewal date.
Which Emsisoft plan offers the best value?
The five-device three-year plan has the lowest dated unit cost at about €12.80 per device per year, but it also creates the longest commitment. For a first purchase, one year is the safer default. Choose three or five seats only for computers that can actually use Home and after confirming current Mac or Windows eligibility at checkout.
Bottom line: simple plans, but verify the order behind the table
Emsisoft Home's public structure is refreshingly direct. One, three or five devices can be prepaid for one, two or three years, and the longer terms reduce annualized cost by roughly 12% or 20%. The current European matrix starts at €39.95 for one device/year and reaches its lowest unit cost at five devices for three years.
Don't let that neat grid hide the evidence boundaries. Currency and tax localize, the pricing selector's Windows wording conflicts with the Home page's Mac support, and a current new-order total isn't a universal future renewal promise. Trial the exact machines, save the checkout and receipt, confirm the workspace, and treat cancellation, refund and uninstall as separate actions. That discipline matters more than squeezing the last few euros from a multi-year term.
