Trend Micro Plans and Pricing: First Charge, Renewal and the Right Tier
Four plan names hide three separate decisions: how many devices you actually own, which operating systems they run, and whether VPN and identity services deserve a recurring place in your budget.

Quick answer: the current US 12-month cards show Antivirus+ at $29.95 first term / $39.95 regular, Internet Security at $59.95 / $79.95, Maximum Security at $74.95 / $99.95 and Premium Security Suite at $109.95 / $149.95. Maximum is the sensible mixed-device tier; Internet fits three Windows PCs; Premium only makes financial sense when ten devices and its separate VPN, identity and support services replace things you'd otherwise buy. Save the final cart because region, tax, account eligibility and seller can change the transaction.
Trend Micro prices and device limits in 2026
We checked the current US home catalog on August 1, 2026. The large figure on each card is the current first charge for a 12-month term. The crossed or adjacent figure is the regular price Trend Micro displays at the same time. It's the better number for a year-two budget, although the actual renewal can change because the consumer terms use the then-current renewal price.
These are direct US catalog figures, not a universal price list. A different country, currency, reseller, app store, tax location, existing-account offer or campaign can produce another cart. We deliberately don't encode the figures as a permanent Schema.org Offer: a dated editorial snapshot is honest; a machine-readable promise that survives after the checkout changes isn't.
| Plan | Published scope | First charge | Current regular price | Increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Antivirus+ Security | 1 Windows or Mac device; verify exact installer and receipt | $29.95 | $39.95/year | $10 |
| Internet Security | Up to 3 Windows PCs on the product comparison | $59.95 | $79.95/year | $20 |
| Maximum Security | Up to 5 Windows, Mac, Android, iOS or Chromebook devices | $74.95 | $99.95/year | $25 |
| Premium Security Suite | Up to 10 devices plus plan-specific companion services | $109.95 | $149.95/year | $40 |
The differences look modest because Trend Micro's current acquisition prices sit closer to the regular rates than the extreme first-year discounts used by some rivals. That doesn't remove the need to inspect renewal. It makes the comparison less about a percentage shock and more about whether unused devices and services turn a reasonable plan into an expensive one.
Read six fields before calling any plan cheap
A price without its term is nearly useless. The final checkout should name the product, duration, number of licensed devices, supported platforms, charge due now, renewal basis and seller. Save those fields together. A search snippet can show $29.95 while omitting that a shopper reached the wrong country, a different product generation or a one-device entitlement.
Platform wording deserves special care. Trend Micro's current catalog has inconsistent fragments around Antivirus+ and Internet Security: some navigation/cards show Windows and Mac icons while the detailed product comparison positions Internet Security for Windows PCs. The activation receipt and matching installer are authoritative. Don't buy a code for one family and assume it will extend a differently named application already installed.
Trend Micro 12-month versus 24-month pricing
Trend Micro's current purchase guide lists one- and two-year acquisition options for the US and Canada. A longer term can lock in the current purchase amount for two years and reduce account work, but it also keeps you committed to the product after the refund window closes. Compare the annual equivalent and the full cash payment, not a “save” badge by itself.
| Plan | 12 months | 24 months | 24-month annual equivalent | What the comparison means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Antivirus+ Security | $29.95 | $59.95 | $29.98/year | Essentially the same acquisition rate; longer commitment |
| Internet Security | $59.95 | $119.95 | $59.98/year | Essentially the same acquisition rate |
| Maximum Security | $74.95 | $139.95 | $69.98/year | About $9.95 less than buying two current one-year first terms |
| Premium Security Suite | $109.95 | $219.95 | $109.98/year | Almost the same annual acquisition rate |
The 24-month amounts are current purchase offers, not guaranteed renewal prices. Trend Micro's May 2026 renewal guide says manual renewal may offer one or two years and that terms longer than two years are unavailable. It also says auto-renew must be enabled during that renewal checkout, then can be disabled afterward. That workflow belongs in your calendar if you prefer manual control.
A two-year Maximum Security purchase has the clearest numerical advantage in this snapshot. The other two-year options mainly buy continuity rather than a lower annual acquisition rate. Continuity can still be valuable for a relative whose security you manage, but it isn't a discount if the service stops fitting the household after month three.
Antivirus+ Security: one computer, minimal plan risk
Antivirus+ is the least expensive choice for one supported computer. Its first charge is $29.95 and current regular price $39.95. Choose it when a single Windows or Mac machine is the whole job and you don't need a household account, mobile entitlements, a VPN or identity assistance.
The one-device limit is both its strength and weakness. A buyer can't accidentally pay for nine empty slots, but adding a second computer can make another tier cheaper and easier to manage. Before checkout, verify whether the offered code matches the Windows or Mac installer you intend to use; the catalog's mixed platform labels aren't a substitute for the activation receipt.
Don't confuse Antivirus+ with free permanent antivirus. Trend Micro offers free tools such as HouseCall and Deepfake Inspector, but HouseCall is an on-demand scanner rather than resident protection. Readers who want continuing no-cost protection should compare our free antivirus recommendations instead of treating a paid first term as a free tier.
Internet Security: the focused three-PC household tier
Internet Security costs $59.95 for the current 12-month first term and shows a $79.95 regular price. Its detailed comparison is aimed at up to three Windows PCs. That's a sensible shape for a household with desktops and laptops but no need to spend antivirus licenses on phones or Macs.
The tier adds household features such as parental controls and the broader Windows suite around the same core security family. Paying more doesn't purchase a stronger malware engine than the higher tiers; it purchases product scope. For the actual protection and false-positive verdict, use our current Trend Micro review rather than a plan name.
Internet Security becomes poor value if the device map is mixed. A Mac plus two phones can't be made into a three-PC household by a generous reading of the card. In that case, Maximum Security is the first coherent mixed-platform option even though it costs $15 more now and $20 more at the current regular rate.
Maximum Security: the balanced five-device plan
Maximum Security is the practical center of the line. It covers up to five current Windows, Mac, Android, iOS or Chromebook devices for $74.95 first term and a displayed $99.95 regular price. A couple with two laptops, two phones and a tablet can use the entitlement without buying the highest tier.
Five devices don't receive five identical antivirus engines. Windows and Mac apps can scan and monitor in ways that iOS can't; Chromebook protection has its own installation and feature boundary. Compare platform suitability in our Windows 11, Mac, Android and iPhone security guides before valuing every slot equally.
Current US/Canada positioning includes ID Protection access with Maximum Security, but old articles may still advertise the retired Trend Micro Password Manager. The official end-of-service notice says Password Manager ended November 16, 2025. Our migration guide explains the limited rescue route; it should never be counted as a live benefit in a 2026 price comparison.
Cost per usable device exposes the wrong upgrade
If every available slot is filled, the current regular price works out to $39.95 per device for Antivirus+, $26.65 for Internet Security, $19.99 for Maximum and about $15 for Premium. That makes Premium look cheapest per device. It's only cheapest when ten devices are genuinely protected and the added services aren't duplicates.
Use the number of active devices, not the printed maximum. Premium used on three devices costs about $50 per used device at its current regular rate; Maximum used on five remains $19.99. A family with eleven devices also needs to identify which device can rely on built-in protection or another license rather than assuming “ten” means unlimited.

How Trend Micro automatic renewal works
Trend Micro's consumer terms say an online subscription includes automatic renewal and that the payment method is charged the then-current renewal price plus applicable taxes at the end of the term. That wording matters: the $39.95, $79.95, $99.95 and $149.95 figures are today's regular-price reference, not a lifetime cap.
For a direct purchase, open the TrendLife or Trend Micro Account and match the product by activation code/serial number. If the interface shows Manage Subscription, auto-renew is active; if it shows Renew Now, the current direct subscription may not be set to renew. Record the expiry date, billing date, plan and code rather than relying on the app's green protection status.
Canceling auto-renew normally leaves the paid entitlement active until the end of the term. Trend Micro's cancellation explanation says no future term is purchased while the existing annual or monthly period continues. Save the confirmation and check again later; a calendar reminder is more reliable than expecting one email to arrive at the right moment.
The seller decides where cancellation happens
The most common cancellation error is using the Trend Micro account for a transaction owned by another seller. Trend Micro's in-app cancellation guide sends Android purchases to Google Play, iPhone/iPad purchases to Apple Subscriptions and Windows app purchases to Microsoft Store. Cancel with the account that paid, not merely the device where the antivirus is installed.
Best Buy is separate again. Trend Micro's Best Buy renewal notice says Best Buy manages its billing and Trend Micro can't access those subscription records. Verify status in the Best Buy account or receipt before treating a missing TrendLife control as proof that no renewal exists.

Retail boxes and activation codes add a receipt/code relationship. Trend Micro's current activation guidance can ask retail users to add payment information for auto-renew. Read that screen instead of assuming a prepaid box can never renew. Keep the receipt, code, activation account and auto-renew confirmation together.
A new code can create a second subscription
Buying another Trend Micro code isn't the same as renewing the current code. The Help Center warns that a new subscription doesn't cancel the old one, and early-renewal reminders can continue when the installed app still points to a different activation code. Two email addresses or a Best Buy account plus a direct account can make the inventory harder to see.
Before buying, list every account email, serial/activation code, plan, seller, device count, expiry date, next charge and installed devices. After activation, confirm that the intended term extended or that the new code is visible as a separate license. If the plan family changed, the correct solution may involve installing the matching application rather than forcing the new code into the old product.
| Field | Why it matters | Evidence to save |
|---|---|---|
| Seller | Controls renewal, cancellation and refund route | Receipt and card descriptor |
| Account email | Multiple logins can hide another license | Account profile and confirmation email |
| Activation code | Distinguishes renewal from a new subscription | Masked code and product name |
| Next charge | Shows active auto-renew relationship | Billing date, amount/basis and status |
Cancellation and refund are separate actions
Trend Micro's online-purchase refund guide says security products bought through an official Trend Micro online store have a 30-day money-back guarantee. The request goes through the official support/refund case flow, and the case remains useful evidence until the money returns.
A refund request doesn't automatically prove that future renewal is disabled. Turning off auto-renew doesn't automatically return a completed payment. If both outcomes are needed, complete both controls and save both confirmations. Trend Micro's EULA separately says annual auto-renew charges are eligible for a refund within 30 days of the renewal purchase date.
Retail stores and app stores use their own policies. Trend Micro can't promise Apple's, Google's, Microsoft's or Best Buy's decision from a direct-store help page. Start with the card statement and receipt, then use the merchant's current process. Don't submit card details or allow remote access to a phone number copied from an unaffiliated PDF in search results.
The checkout audit that prevents price surprises
Take one complete screenshot or PDF before paying. It should show country/currency, plan, term, devices, platforms, charge now, renewal basis, tax, included services, seller and auto-renew state. Then save the receipt separately. The evidence is useful when a catalog changes, when a family member activates the wrong code or when an old account continues to bill.
- Count real devices. Include computers, phones, tablets and Chromebooks that need this subscription.
- Verify platform entitlement. Icons and plan names aren't enough when the detailed comparison differs.
- Price the regular term. Compare the $39.95/$79.95/$99.95/$149.95 basis, not only today's charge.
- Value companion apps independently. VPN, ID Protection and ScamCheck don't strengthen the antivirus engine.
- Name the seller. It determines where you cancel and request a refund.
- Set two calendar reminders. Review fit before the refund window ends and again well before renewal.
For a cross-vendor benchmark, use our 2026 antivirus renewal-price report. It applies the same first-term-versus-regular-rate method so a cheap launch year from one vendor isn't compared with a full renewal year from another.
Country, tax and campaign pages can change the cart
This article uses a US-dollar snapshot because combining countries creates a precise-looking table of different contracts. Trend Micro localizes product names, currencies, tax treatment, device bundles and checkout campaigns. A VPN, travel session or affiliate route can also land a buyer in the wrong store. Confirm the country and currency in both the page footer and final payment summary before comparing the amount with our table.
Don't convert the US regular price with a currency calculator and call that a UK, Canadian, Australian or European renewal estimate. Exchange rates are only one input; local VAT, consumer-law disclosures, promotions and the vendor's regional price book can move independently. If your cart differs from our dated snapshot, the cart wins. Save it so the decision remains auditable after the public page changes.
Campaign age is another reason to distrust undated third-party tables. A reviewer can accurately report a price seen months ago and still be wrong for a buyer today. Search results currently surface old Trend Micro acquisition offers and old Password Manager inclusions beside the current catalog. The safe comparison starts from the vendor's current regional store, then uses independent reviews for the security verdict rather than for contract evidence.
Renewing, updating and upgrading are different actions
Renewing extends the paid term on an existing subscription. Updating installs current program components and threat intelligence. Upgrading changes the product or plan. Paying a renewal invoice doesn't prove that the installed Windows app reached the current supported version, while installing a program update doesn't extend the expiry date. Check both the subscription account and the app version after payment.
A new plan can also require a different installer or activation code. Trend Micro's Help Center says normal renewal retains the existing serial number and generally doesn't require reinstalling, but buying a new subscription can create another code. If the app still shows expiration reminders, compare its code with the renewed code before buying again. Repeated purchases are a poor troubleshooting method because they can leave two renewable contracts behind.
Which Trend Micro plan should you buy?
Choose Antivirus+
You protect one supported computer and want the simplest paid relationship. Confirm whether the receipt is for the Windows or Mac product you intend to activate.
Choose Internet Security
You have up to three Windows PCs and don't need mobile or mixed-platform slots. Its current regular-rate premium over Antivirus+ buys household scope, not a stronger engine.
Choose Maximum Security
You can use up to five Windows, Mac, Android, iOS or Chromebook slots. This is the balanced tier for most mixed-device households.
Choose Premium Security Suite
You need ten slots and would otherwise pay for the exact VPN, identity, ScamCheck and support services. Read eligibility and insurance terms first.
Price shouldn't override the protection verdict. Trend Micro's current performance is strong, but its recent false-positive and protection record needs context. Read the full review, then compare alternatives through our antivirus comparison index. A transparent contract can make a suitable product easier to own; it can't make an unsuitable product protective.
Trend Micro pricing and renewal FAQ
How much does Trend Micro cost in 2026?
On the US catalog checked August 1, 2026, the 12-month first charges were $29.95 for Antivirus+ Security, $59.95 for Internet Security, $74.95 for Maximum Security and $109.95 for Premium Security Suite. The current regular prices shown beside them were $39.95, $79.95, $99.95 and $149.95. The final cart, country, tax and seller control the actual transaction.
Which Trend Micro plan is the best value?
Maximum Security is the balanced plan for a mixed household because it covers up to five Windows, Mac, Android, iOS or Chromebook devices. Internet Security is the more disciplined choice for up to three Windows PCs. Premium only earns its higher price when ten devices plus its VPN, identity, ScamCheck and support services are genuinely useful and eligible.
Is Trend Micro Maximum Security better than Internet Security?
It's broader, not a stronger malware engine. Maximum Security adds a five-device mixed-platform entitlement and current ID Protection access for eligible US/Canada customers. Internet Security is aimed at three Windows PCs. Buy Maximum for the devices and features you'll use, not because a higher tier implies better core detection.
What does Trend Micro Premium Security Suite add?
The current US comparison lists ten devices, Trend Micro VPN, ID Protection, ScamCheck, identity-restoration benefits and premium support. Eligibility, insurance and assistance terms matter, and the components may use separate apps. Premium doesn't make the antivirus engine stronger than Maximum Security.
Does Trend Micro still include Password Manager?
The old Trend Micro Password Manager reached end of service on November 16, 2025 and no longer receives support or updates. Trend Micro directs customers toward ID Protection, which includes password-vault functionality. Don't buy from an old price table that still treats the retired application as a live feature.
Does Trend Micro renew automatically?
Direct online subscriptions include automatic renewal unless it's turned off. Trend Micro's consumer terms say the payment method is charged the then-current renewal price plus applicable taxes. Check the exact subscription in the TrendLife or Trend Micro Account, save the next billing date and don't assume the first-term price repeats.
How do I stop Trend Micro auto-renewal?
Use the seller that owns the transaction. Direct purchases are managed in the TrendLife or Trend Micro Account; Apple, Google Play and Microsoft Store purchases are canceled in that same store; Best Buy manages Best Buy subscriptions. Save confirmation and inspect every account and activation code. Uninstalling doesn't cancel billing.
Can I get a refund from Trend Micro?
Trend Micro says consumer security products bought from its official online store have a 30-day money-back guarantee. Retailers and app stores use their own refund processes. Turning off future renewal isn't the same as requesting a refund, so complete and document both actions when both are needed.
Is the 24-month Trend Micro plan cheaper?
At the August 1 snapshot, the 24-month Maximum Security offer was $139.95, or about $69.98 per year, versus $74.95 for the current 12-month first term. Premium was $219.95 for 24 months, or about $109.98 per year, nearly the same annual acquisition rate as the 12-month offer. These are current purchase offers, not guaranteed future renewal prices.
Does buying a new Trend Micro code cancel the old subscription?
No. Trend Micro warns that a new subscription doesn't cancel an old one, and a different activation code can remain a separate license with its own renewal. Inventory every account, serial number, seller and next charge before purchasing or activating another code.
Verdict: Maximum is the sensible middle, but the receipt decides
Maximum Security is the cleanest Trend Micro value for a mixed household: five usable platform slots at $74.95 first term and a current $99.95 regular price. Internet Security is better for three Windows PCs. Premium becomes rational only when ten devices and the exact companion services replace purchases you'd otherwise make.
Before paying, save the complete checkout and name the seller. After paying, record every activation code and renewal date. Then judge the product through the current security review. The right pricing page should prevent a billing surprise and a wrong-device purchase; it shouldn't talk you into a weaker fit merely because the first charge looks tidy.
