Our verdict: the bundle is easier to defend than the standalone price
AVG Secure VPN does the basic VPN job with little friction. It encrypts traffic between the device and an AVG server, replaces the public IP seen by websites, offers selectable locations and can connect automatically on untrusted networks. A 10-device entitlement is generous enough for a household. AVG's current product page is the right place to confirm the live trial and platform offer before checkout.
The difficult part is value. AVG sells a one-year standalone subscription at an introductory price and references a much higher annual renewal. At the same time, AVG Ultimate combines the VPN with antivirus, TuneUp and AntiTrack. A current AVG household may reasonably use the included VPN rather than pay twice. Prices are a dated US snapshot, not a promise. Taxes, currency, affiliate paths and account-specific offers can change the checkout. AVG doesn't claim a zero-data service
The official VPN FAQ says AVG doesn't log websites visited, transferred data or IP addresses accessed. The same page states that it stores connection logs including connect and disconnect time, connection duration and bandwidth usage for diagnostics and abuse prevention.
The current AVG VPN Policy goes further: it says client service data is kept for two years on a rolling basis. Read the table in the policy for the exact fields and purposes. “No activity logs” can be true while service and account metadata still exist; those are different claims.
We didn't find a current, prominent independent audit of the consumer product’s no-activity claims comparable with the recurring public audits some specialist VPNs publish.
